Anyone Familiar with Pisa?

If entering Pisa by train to pick up a autoreurope rental car, which rental location is closer to Pisa Centrale station -Pisa Airport or Via San Michele Degli? Also, is it possible to walk to either location or would both require bus or taxi? Thanks!

Have no idea but I know the airport is not too near the central station. My guess it is taxi from either. Only been there once, but did not see any planes landing or rental cars nearby. I saw a bunch of police and circling helocopters which looked like a riot, but was only a prepartation for the football match between 2 teams nearby. The English woman travelling with me shrugged their shoulders as no big deal. I thought they had found "Jimmy Hoffa" with all the police and commotion

Tra6 - Via San Michele Degli Scalzi is closer. It looks to be about 2 km from the station.

Hope this helps ...

Hi tra,

Try www.mappy.com

Change "express" to "pedestrian".

There is a railway station right next to the airport, I know, as we once spent 11 hours at Pisa airport, when our plane was delayed and at one point sat on a bench on the station platform for a change of scenery! I don't think this is Pisa Centrale but think there were trains from Centrale to the airport.

Thanks everyone. I think we'll take a taxi from Pisa Centrale to the downtown car rental location rather than out to the airport. Mappy.com has been helpful, but I haven't gotten very good at using the "pedestrian" directions since I can't seem to find the exact address of Pisa Centrale. I do know that the car rental is on Via San Michele Degli and have been able to locate that. I guess I would need the exact address of the station to put in rather than putting "Pisa Centrale" which it doesn't recognize. Oh well. I think I have the info I need since we will likely use a taxi and not walk anyway. Thanks again for all the help!

The address you want is :
Via San Michele Degli SCALZI

The station is at Piazza della Stazione.

If you put that in www.viamichelin.com you will get an interactive map. Michelin says it's 2km.

Hope this helps ...

Steve
