Anyone familiar with Hotel Chatillon Montparnasse?

Anyone familiar with Hotel Chatillon Montparnasse?

I found it at www.france-hotel-guide. It's a two-star property, and the rate for a double is listed as around 60 euros (low season, presumably; we'd pay more in October, I realize). We're looking to stay in the 14e, 6e or 7e arrondisement. Would appreciate any help from experienced budget travelers. Thanks.

no, I'm not but I am with that quartier and wondered if you are okay with the location? It's just kind of far out (even for me, and I usually stay in Montparnasse or upper 15th) and not really that near a metro stop. I think for a tourist, that may be somewhat inconvenient. I think you could easily get a 2-star hotel for that rate in a more convenient location -- there are several around the Denfert Rochereau stop or Daguerre, for example.

here are a few I was thinking of when I said that, with the approx price for a double:
Hotel Daguerre, 76 euro (also in www.france-hotel-guide.com)
Hotel du Lion, 65-75 euro www.hotel-lion.com
Hotel du Midi, 75 euro www.hotels.fr/hoteldumidi

all are 2-stars, the Lion and Midi right near the Denfert stop

I haven't stayed here, but a friend recommends it for his friends travelling on a budget. I trust his judgement. It's Grand Hotel Jeanne d'Arc in the Marais district. Do a search and see if others on Fodors have commented on it.

http://www.myhotelinparis.com/hotels/021.htm

Sorry, I just re-read your question and the Marais was not on your list.

Go to this site to see a photo of the Chatillon Hotel. Click on the arrows to see the surrounding area. You can also click on the "plan" and it will show you a map of the hotel locale. It looks awfully far out, almost to the Perimeter. Also doesn't look close to the Metro.

Help please Jun 18th, 2002 05:16 PM

Go to what site and see a photo of the Chatillon? Did I miss something?
