Anyone ever been to Pszczyna, Poland?

Looks pretty cool. About 40 miles south of Katowice, and should fit in our itinerary, as we intend to overnight in Olomouc (CZ) on our way back to Austria.

Might mean tha Wroclaw has to go.

Here are some websites:

http://www.poland.net/castles/silesia/pszczyna.html

http://www.zamek-pszczyna.pl/info-eng.htm

and

http://www.pszczyna.pl/index2-a.html - - especially http://www.pszczyna.pl/zdjec-a.html

Not a single post on this forum for this town.

Ben Haines? any one else?

Appreciate any info, even if it is only on the area (It isn't too far from Auschwitz [Oswiecim] which I think we are going to skip).

Particularly interested in how we will do with only a smattering of Polish,; I speak adequate German as a back-up to English.

Best wishes,

Rex
[email protected]
Rex,
I have traveled this area in the past. The trip to Oswiecim is really worth it.
Very moving. Other places near there of interest is Katowice (The pope's birthplace and the church in which he was baptized) Farther north(65miles) is the church of Czestochowa and the Black Madonna-Poland's most famous religious shrine whose history was covered by James Michener in his book, "Poland"-a must read!
We were in Czestochowa on the feast of Corpus Christi and the religious procession was one of the most moving I have ever witnessed.

Thanks, Gino and Ben.

Clearly there are way too many things to choose from on this trip. I need ten days for Austria, 10 for the CR, 10 for Poland, etc.
Rex: Read my reply to you in your "Seeking info on Czestochowa, Katowice or Wroclaw for two night "taste"in Poland." Post... All 3 are definitly worh visiting... Castle in Ksiaz is most famous and with lots to see... the other 2 may offer better more romantic hotel experiance...
http://www.palackrobielowice.com
http://www.kliczkow.com.pl/english/index_english.htm
http://www.bmb.pl/zamek_ksiaz/defaulten.htm
Not far from Ksiaz you also may want to visit Castle in Bolkow
http://www.zamek-bolkow.info.pl/gale...kowa/index.htm
