Anyone else nervous about flying American?

I am heading to Paris on Wednesday for a short trip (one week). I am taking my Dad for his birthday, so it's a special trip for both of us. And, of course, I cannot help but thinking that American will be canceling my flight (ORD to CDG).

Ugh! For some reason I always seem to pick the wrong airline at the wrong time.

Just crossing my fingers that it all goes as planned :)

Just keep checking the same flight you are taking to see how it goes each day.Click on flight status and enter your flight number to see when that flight took off from ORD and when it landed in Paris.
I had a disastrous day on American yesterday when they cancelled my first flight shortly before we supposed to board. My flights outbound on Thursday were flawless, all on time.Today everyone I talked to in regards to some compensation went out of their way to help me.
I think they all must be fearful of losing their own jobs if this continues. My flights were all domestic and I have another trip booked on AA coming up.
Wishing you and your Dad perfect flights and a wonderful birthday celebration in Paris.

thanks HappyTrvlr! I am hoping that it is mainly just the domestic operations. My big issue is that my Dad is on Air France an hour earlier. (we both used miles, so hence separate airlines). I've been checking and unfortunately there's been a few two many delays and cancellations then I trust. :)

ARgh! Just checked today's flight scheduled to depart at 6 p.m. and they are now estimating 10 p.m. I think I'll be done with AA after this.

Bummer. I guess for that reason, I stopped using U.S. carriers to go abroad years ago.

Still, you will get there and so will your Dad. Just put together Plan B, don't fret, and just remember that once you and Dad meet in Paris, it will all be good!

Peaceout!

I am very nervous. Hubby and I are flying to Istanbul in two weeks. We have three AA flights that have under 2 hours connecting time (SMF/LAX/JFK/MAD) prior to arriving in Madrid to catch an Iberia flight to Istanbul. We are using AA miles, so I'm not sure if that puts us at a disadvantage. It will be an adventure for sure.

With any airline, the more en route connections that must be made, the greater the chance for missing one.

I am not a particular fan of AA but much of these recent problems are probably overblown. Problems can happen with any air carrier and I shouldn´t overly stress about an unknown event over which one has absolutely no control and worry about a delay or cancellation which may never occur.

We are flying AA home from Italy tomorrow, so fingers crossed for smooth connections, MXP to JFK to LAX. At least we're on the way home.

do they still fly with armed air marshalls? Always worries me, a bored man, a job requiring lots of flying and no chance to use his special skills, imagine the tension that must build up in his mind.

I just returned from a trip to Paris on AA. We flew SFO-ORD-CDG there and CDG-DFW-SFO back.  We had a delay of about an hour leaving ORD because of a mechanical issue but they made up most of the lost time up in flight.  Similar delay leaving CDG on the first leg of the return trip, plus another delay of about an hour at DFW.  But we ended up arriving at SFO only an hour late overall which wasn't too bad.  Other than that we had no other problems with the flights.  However, I did chat with some folks on the DFW-SFO leg that had earlier domestic flights cancelled and had been switched to our flight.
