Anyone else having trouble today?

Today, I keep losing this site, usually after clicking "post a reply". My screen goes blank and I get a "http 1.1 not available". What is that all about. I can usually click back into Fodor's and then it may or may not work a time or two before it does it again. Doesn't seem to happen with any other site. Anyone else?

esm Apr 13th, 2006 09:52 AM

Yes, most annoying. And I haven't had problems any other place.

esm Apr 13th, 2006 09:53 AM

And I should add I was only viewing before and was not logged on.

laughingd2 Apr 13th, 2006 09:54 AM

You are not alone - it's very hit and miss today.

fun4all4 Apr 13th, 2006 09:55 AM

Yes, thanks, I thought it was only me. I even had a post go onto another thread and not the one I answered.

Neopolitan Apr 13th, 2006 09:56 AM

Thank goodnes. Yesterday I added more memory to my laptop, and I was just sure this had something to do with that. OK, call me computer illiterate.

missypie Apr 13th, 2006 10:01 AM

Yes. I thought it was a sign from God to stop planning my trip and get back to work.

Robespierre Apr 13th, 2006 10:03 AM

It's symptomatic of an overloaded server. So all you worker-bees get back to work, and let us ladies and gentlemen of leisure use the site.

;)

TexasAggie Apr 13th, 2006 10:07 AM

I haven't been able to get into Fodors all day long until now... talk about disrupting my routine at work, LOL! ;-)

Christina Apr 13th, 2006 10:10 AM

yeah, it happened to me once or twice -- it happens when you try to post something, and I think I may have posted twice the same thing by accident -- whoops

It used to happen a lot a couple years ago until Fodors upgraded its server or something. NOw, it rarely happens to me, but does occasionally. Maybe they are doing some work on it.

Intrepid1 Apr 13th, 2006 11:39 AM

Just be glad you didn't get that other message: "Go away and don't you ever<B/> come back!"

csroe Apr 13th, 2006 12:17 PM

Whew....I thought the office "big brothers" had finally tracked me down and were playing mind games with me by sending out those darn "http" error messages! Missypie, I'd never get a trip planned if it wasn't done "at work"!!!

Molloy95 Apr 13th, 2006 12:46 PM

I had that same work-related panic earlier today :-). "oh my god, they really ARE watching me."

HowardR Apr 13th, 2006 01:13 PM

Ah yes, all of us computer illiterates can breath a sigh of relief!

LoveItaly Apr 13th, 2006 01:21 PM

OK, I being a computer dummy, will sigh with relief. Yes Neo, the same thing has happened to me today. Also a map keeps popping up and covering the screen. Most annoying.

nancicita Apr 14th, 2006 12:51 AM

"symptomatic of an overloaded server"

Perhaps too many http requests overflowed the buffer?

*just joking*

:-D

julies Apr 14th, 2006 04:53 AM

How about an answer to a post disappearing even though I did everything as usual? That happened to me.

Neopolitan Apr 14th, 2006 05:02 AM

I see it still isn't working well today. Julies, it seems to go blank the most either when I click "post a reply" or when I actuall click to post that reply. I'm not sure where all that stuff goes when it happens. Fodorite Pergatory?

travlintoes Apr 14th, 2006 05:37 AM

It's consoling to know it isn't just me or my computer!! I was at work yesterday (off today!!!) and it went to that screen when I tried to post.

You think boss is maybe watching?--well, my boss actually did put some sort of monitor on one computer unit so he could check what the employee was doing--she must have been a bad girl--doing things like planning trips, checking out restaurants in France and hotels in Venice, etc. She is no longer with our firm--no, it wasn't me-thank goodness!! But now that I know what he did, it certainly gives me food for thought!!

Hey--as I'm sure you all know by this point in the a.m., looks like Delta is maybe going to keeping flying. I know, I know, we just have to wait and see, but at least it's sounding more hopeful for us skybirds.
