Anyone else found the neat Pylones stores in Paris?
We got more positive feedback about the gifts we brought back from Pylones in Paris (I understand that there are two (soon to be three) in NY city). They are hard to describe except they sell funky, bright, often hand-painted things. Very easy to find presents for grandkids - handpainted bicycle bell, hair brush, pens shaped like fish, etc. For older people there were tea towels with the Metro stops, coffee spoon measure attached to clip to keep bag closed, colorful cd holders, tape dispenser.
If you need to bring back presents or want to see something a little different, wander into one of their three stores. Not cheap. www.pylones.com I have no affiliation with this store. |
That must have been where I bought the bicycle bell and some other trinkets for my granddaughter; is there a store on the Ile St.Louis?
|
Yes, there is one on Ile St. Louis. Actually, two - next to each other, across from L'Arch du Noah children's toy store.
They do have random fun different things! Not necessarily touristy (although I do like the little bicylce men from last summer's Tour de France collection!), but unique. |
The one we visited was in the 18th, near the Abesses Metro station. Other ones in Paris listed on the website under "Info" are in the 4th, 7th, and two in the 1st (Ile St Louis?)
Another thing we found there was the clorful plastic lunch boxes (like bento boxes) that a number of the French schoolchildren seem to carry. |
The one in midtown Manhattan has some cute gifts; I liked the things (chair, small desk items, etc) made in Senegal from hammered-out brightly colored tin cans.

That's a great shop. I went into the one on Ile St. Louis, don't remember two. I saw so many things I liked I couldn't decide, then forgot to go back. Oh, well, next time.
The staff was having a good time trying to figure out how to assemble a piece of the fun, colorful furniture. Good recommendation. |
