View is nice. Don't go there to eat. Go to have a drink and enjoy the view.

We just returned from Paris and had a late lunch at this restaurant. Wonderful meal, great service, great view, highly recommend it.

I haven't looked up the facts, but I thought the restaurant at the new LeMeridien in Lyon was supposed to be the highest restaurant in Europe. Or is it only the highest hotel in Europe and highest hotel restaurant in Europe?

Hmm, Yes, it appears that the Lyon Arc de Ceil or something like that is only a restaurant within "the highest hotel in Europe."

We have reservations at Le Ciel de Paris in June. Can you tell me what the dress code is like? Thank you.

we have gone in the evening and from sporty, to dressy was seen.

people wander in from other places for a drink, but except for long evening gowns i think i saw about everything.

dressy sporty would be fine, or dressing up will not be out of place.

BTW.. their creme brulée was not bad at all.

Thank you. I am not a dessert person at all - EXCEPT for creme brulee!

Well - I have eaten at a restaurant at the top of the Jungfrau which I'm pretty sure is thousands of feet higher than any of the restaurants listed.

And although the view may be nice - friends who ate at Le Ciel de Paris several months ago were not impressed.

I think when one is talking about structures, the highest means from the ground at that point, not distance above sea level. Otherwise somebody could put up a 2 foot tower on Everest and have the highest tower in the world.

We had a wonderful brunch at Le Ceil in Lyon which was the hotel where we stayed. I've always understood that the food is not that great or worth the money at the one in Paris -- but the views there are amazing --we only did drinks quite a few years ago.

I am looking for an "experience" for my boyfriend since he has never been to Paris, I have and we are there for less than 15 hours or so. Also, we are stopping in Paris after 10 days in Tuscany and Rome so we should be well fed along the way. I have learned so much from all your posts. I can't thank everyone enough. My 50th birthday will be memorable!

I dare say that the highest restaurant in Europe could be the one at the Jungfraujoch at some 11,000 + feet alt.

PalenQ, see my post above. I think normally when someone says "highest" they mean height off the ground. You can walk out that place at Jungfraujock and you are ON the ground. Perhaps, we should use the word "tallest", but then that isn't really right either.

Any more recent experiences? Surprisingly, tripadvisor.com has all of YWO reviews - - none with text, one giving it a "5", the other a "1".

We had thought we might try 58 Tour eiffel, but so far, the early word is not good. We are only spending two nights in Paris, and on the first of those, we are going to le Train Bleu.

So, I was more interested in "scenic" than "top chef".

Thanks in advances for all replies... and...

Best wishes,

Rex

We ate there last August and were singularly unimpressed. High prices, bad service, mediocre food. The view is lovely. I'd go for a drink, which is already an outrage price-wise, but I'd never eat there again. We were 5 people and they simply could not get our orders right (and it wasn't terribly crowded). And I've had better street food.

Okay, so make me another suggestion - - is ther any other good "view" restaurant? I have looked at the menus online; I agree that the prices look high.
