I am making dinner reservations (4 nights) for our June 12-16th Paris trip. This is an anniversary trip for my husband and I. One of the restaurants recommended by our hotel is La Petite Cour. I can't find any recent posts for this restaurant. Has anyone dined here and have an opinion?

Here are our other selections so far, which the hotel assures us they can secure reservations:
Senderens
Le Comptoir
Le Coupe Chou

I would love some Bistro and/or Cafe recommendations for casual lunches or evening 'people watching' over a glass of wine. We are staying at the Hotel Millesime in the 6th.

From searches, here are some ideas so far:
Chez Francis
Le Cave au de l'isle
Brasserie de L'lsle St. Louis
Cafes-Flor, Deux Magots, Bonaparte
Cafe de la Mairie

We obviously can't make it to all of these and dinner too, unless of course we just eat all day long, which is an idea I suppose...........

We ate there last year, sitting outside. I had mixed feelings. It was nice, but didn't seem like anything special and seemed a whole lot more expensive than other restaurants we like a lot better. We ended up there because we couldn't get into Aux Charpentiers right next door. We ended up eating at Aux Charpentiers twice and we like it a lot more, but it isn't as "pretty" -- much friendlier and better food though, in my opinion.

I called for a birthday reservation at Le Comptoir three months before, but we can't get in there. If your hotel can get you in -- do it. Are you staying at Relais St. Germain, by the way?

I'm thinking of Le Coupe Chou for that birthday dinner instead -- it's so atmospheric. We've eaten at Petit Prince several times across the street, but never at Le Coupe Chou, which gets some mixed reviews on the food.

Let me backtrack on the comments about "friendliness" at la Petitie Cour. I just looked at my journal. Actually I mentioned how fun and friendly they were. When the waiter brought the wine and my partner started to look at the label, the waiter joked that because I had ordered it, he would have to pay for it since he was checking it out. Then when we asked for a second pitcher of tap water, a "bus boy" pretended he was going to dip it into the fountain to fill it up again. I do remember the place being very busy and seemed understaffed. It took a long time for them to make up our table that we were waiting for, and service was very, very slow -- which I rarely object to in Paris -- so it must have been extraordinarily slow.
My comments about the meal were "very good, but awfully expensive for what it was".

Neopolitan- thanks for the feedback on La Petite Cour. There are so many good choices in Paris, I hate to spend one of our few nights there at a disappointing restaurant. I'll check into Aux Charpentiers. Le Coup Chou does look cozy doesn't it? And it gets good reviews as well. I keep seeing Le Cave au de l'isle mentioned. Maybe we'll do a dinner there one night or the Petite prince.

Well, our hotel, The Millesime claims they can get us a res. at Le Comptoir.....we'll see how that goes.

This may just confuse you, but do you know this site? In addition to good descriptions and some pictures you can book online. Also for each restaurant if you click on "address" above it, you can link to the restaurant's own full website often with even more complete menus and more pictures. You can link to Aux Charpentiers there. Don't let me mislead you -- Aux Charpentiers isn't anything really special in decor or anything else, it's just an all around good moderate restaurant. Although their duck in olives is pretty special.

We ate dinner at La Petite Cour two years ago based on Hotel Verneuil's suggestion. It was one of a few open on Jan. 1st. It was allright, nothing memorable. The decor was a bit too red, but otherwise, the staff were nice. The courtyard seems like a nice place to eat during warm weather.

I tried Le Coupe Chou last July and was seated next to the huge fireplace shown on their website. It is atmospheric and there are different dining rooms. I was seated with other Americans perhaps coincidentally, not sure. As for the food it was good but again not really memorable.

We stayed half a block away from Le Comptoir at Odeon Hotel in March. We didn't eat there as it's one of the latest places that is difficult to get reservations for. The outdoor seating area consists of just perhaps four small tables. It seemed funny that they had wrapped fleece blankets on those tables for the patrons to cover up with.

I heard good things about those Ile St. Louis restaurants you named.

Good news, I just recieved confirmation from our hotel that they were able to make our requested dinner reservations! So we do indeed get to dine at Le Comptoir. Yippee. Hope it's as good as the hype.

We will probably chose a rest on lle St. Louis for the 4th dinner. I do like that area a lot.

You may withdraw your thanks if you become as addicted to that site as I have become. I spend hours there pouring over and drooling over the pictures and menus. It adds confusion I'm afraid.
