I love their name: "molestus"
Pretty darn accurate!

>>Do you think someone should tell David Attenborough?<<

Well, now the BBC's got a bit of a financial squeeze on, it might be an idea. But there are other presenters who are more deserving of being shoved down a dark hole among the mice and mozzies.

I wouldn't go the UK is a very dangerous place to holiday and the weather is lousy! The knighting of Salman Rushdie adds to the threat. Floods, derailed underground train and medical doctors trainied as bomb experts, there have got to be better places.

They say ( whoever They are.) That you should not alter your life style as that is what the terrorists want, is it though ? I have not heard what these religous crackpots actually want< but what they have achieved is to inconvenience people with excessive inconsistant security procedures> maybe to the point of putting people off travelling< not through the very far removed chance of being involved in a terrorist incident< but more like the certainty of knee jerk< non profiling < amateurish security procedures> Dont know why < is substituting the comma must be something ive done to the keyboard> fullstop as well

Do you believe in re-incarnation?

I'm beginning to.....

>walking down the dirt road that was the main street of a village and having people walking by us say "you are welcome" as their greeting.<

To which one replies, "You are thank you"?

>.. the ones underground are well on their way to becoming separate species.<

Just one more example of Secular Humanists trying to foist their religious beliefs about evolution upon the public.

I think that mosquitos are not mentioned in the Bible. If that is true, does it mean that they don't exist?

>...medical doctors trainied as bomb experts, ...<

One wonders if their medical training was as poor as their explosives training.

ira:
I think Secular Humanism isn't a religion by definition. It is merely a method philosophy based on critical thinking or logic. It's not atheism or any form of theism whatsoever.

At the risk of being re-incarnated, I'd say that it's more likely to be the baseball hat brigade that will be scared out of coming. There will be fewer of them clogging up the tube.
The more educated types will weigh up the risks and make all the points that we have made.
They are also more likely to spend money and appreciate London.
Quality rather than quantity is a good thing IMHO

Also at the risk of a timelord type regeneration: I was in Tourist Hell yesterday (knightsbridge, Bakers st etc) and there seemed to be plenty of fat blokes in shorts and baseball caps - so unless northerners have started coming to Tussauds then I think the people from Jesusland are still coming.

Carrybean Jul 7th, 2007 02:51 AM

Odd, I just spent 2 weeks in Knightsbridge & didn't see any fat blokes in shorts & baseball caps. :)

Josser Jul 7th, 2007 03:36 AM

That's because it was dark and cloudy.
There's an old saying.

When Lunnon skies be bright and blue
White hairy legs be soon on view.

Hi. I have the same concerns, but we have decided to go. And listen, you guys got many more thoughtful responses than I did elsewhere. I mean, several people did sort of process it out for me, but others told me, well, never mind what they said. I think the thing is, asking these questions, which of course we are right to ask, makes almost everyone temporarily anxious, or sad, or many things. But after reading what people have written here, and where I posted, and talking with my husband, we are going to go, for all of the reasons people have given. And just the process of asking the question, and hearing what many different people think about the situation, pro and con, makes all the difference. At least for me, it helps me sort it all out. Thanks to everyone, your posts helped me, and a bunch of other people who probably never write a question. L

Incidentally I was braving tourist hell to get to meet Thereyet of this parish and his family.

He's the kind of American we want more of. Sane and rational (and probably the last person left in California that smokes)

Padraig Jul 8th, 2007 03:38 AM

Sane and rational AND a smoker? That'll provoke some reaction.

I light my pipe and sit back to watch the sport.

ira Jul 8th, 2007 03:58 AM

>Sane and rational AND a smoker?

Of course. How else does one stay sane and rational in the contemporary world?
