Anyone book Uffizi by phone recently?

I tried calling the other morning about ten times and at first it wouldn't register the numbers...when I would press 2 for English nothing would happen, etc... Then I got through to someone four or five times and they couldn't hear me and kept saying "pronto." So, I asked my friend to call for me who is from Italy and working in DC. She called approximately 25 times from both a land line and cell phone and had the same issues and became very frustrated. She is having her dad who lives in Italy try tomorrow, but we don't know what is going on. I told her I would post on here to see if anyone else has had similar issues lately. Thanks.

No, are you making a reservation?

Yes, thirty calls and counting... I wanted a reservation for both the Uffizi and Accademia.

We are in the process of ordering these online. check out the web site:

My concern was that they would ship you the tix, but my friend went back online tonight and said you print out your confirmation at the end, and that is all you need. They do charge a service fee, etc.

Last time we were in Florence we had our hotel take care of it for us. We went in July (2003) and it was not a problem to get tickets the day before. However this time we are renting a guesthouse and wanted to do it ourselves.

Good luck.

I called this morning and got right through! I got reservations for exactly when I requested! Yippeeeeee!

Booking online was going to be very expensive......it was worth the 3 calls!

I did. It is simpler and cheaper by phone. Call at a reasonble time in Florence...

She called at all times of the day and for some reason the operators kept claiming they couldn't hear her. That is the same thing that happened to me. When her dad called from Italy yesterday morning for me, he had no problem. Maybe it was just an issue that day as she tried both the English and Italian prompts.

If her dad is in Italy, maybe have him call and make reservations? just a thought........

Hi icepk it is so easy, as sibus says, it is much better than by internet, not only is CHEAPER but if you do not show up for some reason there is no charge, no pain.
For instance you might make a reservation for Wednesday but if you walk by Tuesday and the line is ok, you can get it and no show up on Wednesday. The charge by phone is 3 euros per person. THis brings the ticket to a total of 9.50 euros per person.
May be you are calling the wrong way check with your operator to be sure you are dialing the right area code for Florence. Of course be sure you are calling at working hours in Italy.
