Anyone been to St. Tropez?
 

We've been all over France, but as one whose bathing suit days are over St. Tropez has never been on the list. Now, a cruise will drop us there for a day in late October. (Figure it will be safe then for old geezers like me!)From various searches it appears that there is enough to see and do in town so that signing on to the ship's excursions won't be necessary. Any suggestions? Especially restaurants. Mille grazie, muchas gracias,

I visited St. Tropez as a daytrip from St. Raphael last summer. In October, there shouldn't be as many people there and it will be even more enjoyable! The town is great for walking, and shopping to say the least, especially if they have their big market (Depending on what day you are docking)

I am really bad with remembering names of things, but dining at one of the restaurants or cafes on the marina is the most fun for people watching and boat watching! Of course, they are a bit pricey and the further you go inland they become a little less expensive.

Sorry to be so vague, but I don't have my journal with me to access any details!

I ,too,stopped in St Tropez for a day with a Med cruise..It was GREAT~

It is a fantastic place if you want to shop- tons of little boutiques,shoe stores,sun glass places--all over- winding little streets and alleys filled with GREAT shopping...

ON the walk into town from the ship tender ( approx. 2 very short blocks) you will reach an ATM machine....

ALso there is an outdoor art exhibit right there around the harbor..Artwork is dirt cheap- We found some terrific art by an artist from Paris...collage effects--ran us around $25 per item...Cost us more to frame it at home but great contemporary art..

If you are into shopping,people watching and having a nice lunch in a cafe, you will have a blast!

No need to do ship's excursions in that port!

Have a blast- I am soooooooo envious! I would give anything to be back in St.Tropez to go shopping again!

I actually found St Tropez a bit run down and sad. Beautiful yacths in the harbour, though.

Thanks to all for confirming my plan. Anyone been to the museum? I understand it's worth a visit.

there is plenty to do ---just strolling up and down the lanes...lots of shops, although many will start to close about that time....there are many expensive restaurants but also many middle of the road places....you might try a guide book....i also don't remember the names even though i have been there several times....the small harbor is very beautiful and usually full of lovely boats....the beaches are out of town so you need not worry about being top-less...
note on restaurants ---get away from the water and the prices will drop and the quality will go up...
