Anyone been to Cap d'Agde?
 

Has anyone been to Cap d'Agde? We're looking ahead to a trip late next spring to the south of France, and I'm curious about the nude beach/section of town. What kind of crowd does it draw? Would it be a good experience for those of us who've never paraded around naked in public before?

I was in Cap d'Agde almost ten years ago. I loved it! I missed the nude beach though. In St. Barth's, the nude sunbathers were from all different age groups. We saw a couple in their 80's going bare. Since it's a French island, I would guess you may see the same thing in Cap d'Agde. Go for it!

It's the biggest beach playground in Langedoc. Loup, that is sea bass is a favorite of the restos there, Like Grande Motte started new in 60's as a rsoet. The nude beach is the camp called HÉLIOPOLIS and has it's own community bank, shos, and market.

Now, now, tell the truth.

I can not tell a lie. I have been to Cap d'Agde many times. Nudity is not required in the city but is expected on the beach. Ten years ago many families were going there. Unfortunately, today there are more swingers. The food is fantastic, the wine is cheap and most people there are from France, Germany, Holland and England.

Cap d'Agde is a city--not a resort, so if you are expecting rules regarding single men or body piercings, they don't exist here. In the evenings people dress, with most women wearing sexy outfits. Most of the apartment rentals are very small and in most cases, the French haven't discovered air-conditioning--much less ceiling fans.

August is when the crowds swell to 60,000 and in July, police are hired on the beaches to keep the crowd in control.

All I can say is expect everything, from families, grandparents, body builders, beautiful women, transgender people and people with many, many piercings.

I have never noticed anyone acting innappropriately in the Village, afterall, there are families and these things will not be tolerated. There is a long beach and I have seen a few "things" occur further up the beach, however.
