Thanks so much for that most helpful insight, Father! Wow, who would've thought?

Ok...any TOURISTS who planned their wedding from elsewhere?

Now, go say four Hail Mary's, Father. You've been a very naughty boy.
There have been other threads on getting married in Italy. I have copied suggestions for websites from those threads and repeat them below, they might be a good start:

initaly.com - Getting Married in Italy.
www.weddings-in-italy.net
www.customitaly.com.

http://travel.state.gov/marriage.html - General comments on the topic of US citizens marrying abroad from the State Dept (its validity, requirements, etc)

Also run your own search here.
Thanks for the tips, Sue.

My husband and I were not married in Venice but we were married in Florence Italy. In addition to the other two sites I reccommend www.italyweddings.com. I don't know if our wedding coordinator does anything farther north but he was an invaluable asset in planning our wedding. It was an amazing experience. Congratulations and good luck planning your wedding.
