Anybody stay at the Hotel San Michele in Amalfi?

If so, how was your experience? Is it centrally located enough that transportation to Capri, Pompeii, the town of Amalfi and Positano is easy to arrange? I am looking to book my guests for my Ravello wedding there...thanks!

Are you talking about the Hotel "Villa San Michele"? If it is the one we stayed at, it sits just below Ravello. Will your guests have cars? I remember that the hotel can arrange pick ups for tours of Pompeii.
To get to Capri, the boats leave from Amalfi itself and Positano. I doubt if San Michele can have the hydrofoils stop at their little dock area. So your guest would have to get to either Amalfi or Positano. The buses are often very crowded.
You should probably check with the hotel to see if they can arrange transportation to these two towns.

Last fall we syayed at the hotel Onda Verde in Praiano which had a dock and boat taxis were easily and quickly arranged to get to Positano.

We loved the Villa San Michele where we stayed in 2000. Good luck with your wedding in Ravello. What a place!!

Wow. The Onda Verde looks awesome with private beach space too. The room rates are very similar to the Hotel "Villa San Michele". How far is Praiano from Ravello? We will not have cars so transportation can be arranged.

Praiano is just between Positano and the town of Amalfi and then comes Ravello. By car, I would think to get to Ravello would take 25 - 40 minutes depending on trafic and how many buses are trying to get up and around the hairpin turns to Ravello.

Onda Verde has ability to arrange car service to anywhere you want, and as I mentioned, water Taxis are easily arranged to get you from its dock to either Amalfi or Positano.
It has an elevator from the street down to its lobby, dining room, and the rooms. We adored this place. There were 17 family members. If you decide to book there, tell Cosimiro that the DeMayo family gave recommendation. Either place is very picturesque, but Onda Verde is a step up IMHO, and has more dramatic views, better meals and a dining room with a view to die for. Anything else you may want to know, just post again.

The Villa San Michele is in Castiglione a few metres from the Anmalfi/Ravello road junction so is nearer to both Atrani and Amalfi than Ravello but it is very near the SITA Bus Stop for both Ravello and Amalfi/Salerno.The only problem being that if you try to get on the Ravello bus it will probably be full from those who have boarded in Amalfi
