Anybody here get a $20 BA ticket?
 

Crazy airfare mistake last night. All of US to almost all of Europe for $20 plus tax RT. I got ORD-MAD, three tickets for $268 with tax.

No! We did not know 'til someone here mentioned it and it was too late I guess. I went on the BA website and didn't find any ad.<BR><BR>How come you ended up paying $268 for 3 tickets @ $20 each even with taxes-how much are the taxes?

I just realized you said it was a mistake that BA made! Even so I am never lucky to get in on the mistakes nor the great sales-always end up paying too much!

That was the total for three tickets. Taxes were about 70 bucks a piece.

Dejahma and anyone else who's fortunate enough to spot an error like this: PLEASE let the rest of us know before it's corrected if possible! Don't wait almost 24 hours after the fact to post your good luck.

This is/was stealing, plain and simple.<BR>

Oh Umm, for God's sake, if BA made a stupid mistake like that, it's THEIR problem. Like you wouldn't have taken advantage of it had you known about it - yeah, right! <BR><BR>Any company that screws up like that deserves the results. It's business, that's all. You take the flak if you mess up pure and simple.

As far as I am concerned it is pobably a marketing strategy. So what if they sell a couple of hundred tickets at 20.00 a pop. It makes everybody come to their site that hears about the great mistake!

Sorry I got it at what I thought was the last minute last night. It was posted on this board last night also. I kind of thought this was like Ryan air's 1 or 2 hour sales. To xxx it was not on the BA website only expedia, travelocity, etc. To Umm: is it stealing if you make a mistake in online booking and the airline wants to charge you twice the fare to correct it?

You self-righteous people call anything stealing that you didn't get in on.<BR>If I bought a bottle of catsup at the super market and it was mistakenly marked at 5 cents and the sales clerk rang it up that way, I DIDN'T STEAL THE CATSUP. It was a mistake, pure and simple.

Heard of a neightbor exactly the same thing happened,to the $.He got to Chicago checking in and BA told him he would have to pay up.The tickets were NOT honored at $20 a pop.Mistake yes.But an airline ticket and a bottle of ketchup are a few worlds apart I hate to tell you.He called BA and was told he wud have to pay and they pout all kins a notes in is reservation.

Wet blanket: I called BA and they said the fare was good. They were really nice about it.<BR><BR>PS I heard that the Europe board was full of rude people but didn't really believe it. I regret that I ever posted here and will not post again.

Don't leave dejahma. Notice I only post under xxx as to avoind being attacked. I have learned so much from this site &amp; it has saved me thousands. Just ignore the nasties &amp; try not to let them draw you in. Darn! Wish I knew about the mistake sooner!

We will gladly take advantage of a business's mistake and then whine about a lack of business or government ethics. <BR><BR>If you made out a check to a business for a greater amount that you should, by mistake, and the business cashed it and refused to refund the overpayment, how many people would howl in outrage?<BR><BR>You can be as unethical as you want. Just don't hypocritically whine when someone, or some business, is unethical right back at you. <BR><BR>

Nice way to take the fun out of things. What a downer. I just love when people preach their morality to others they know nothing about. Party pooper! Boo! Hiss!

I read a newspaper article about United Airlines who made a mistake by entering the wrong fare in the computer. The article explained about the decision to allow the passengers to fly on the cheap fare.<BR><BR>The spokesman said that 1. it was goodwill, 2. the flights likely would have empty seats that the cheap fare passengers would take, 3. it did bring good publicity for the airline. I can think of #4, i.e. the passengers booked the fare and then stopped looking elsewhere. If they had known United would not sell them a ticket at that price, they would continue their search on other airlines until they saw an affordable fare.<BR><BR>How about when you have to change your ticket? The fees are very high and higher than it actually costs to change the electronic record + agent's labor.<BR><BR>My feeling is that passengers should be allowed to keep their low fare except in very exceptional cases, such as a massive computer glich were all the seats on the airplane were free and the airline would go under otherwise.

GOOD FOR YOU! dejahma<BR>The way I read it, you took advantage of a mistake, took action, and veified the results. You should be congradulated for being astute, and honest. You called BA, they honored the fare. They could have rejected it. <BR>BA rewarded you for being a good shopper.
