Any Thai restaurants in Rome? (gulp)
 

Being that my wife is Thai and I, a white man, have been subjected to eating Thai food every night, it would be unusual not to eat Thai food at some point in this week long trip. Can anyone suggest a Thai restaurant if one indeed exists in this Italian town in the thick of Italy?

Too bad for Thai food lovers that Thai Inn is so remote. Located in the heart of Monte Verde Nuovo and convenient only to residents of the Gianicolo, this is doubtless the best Thai spot in the city and delightful. The ownership is Malay, but the food is dominated by Thai specialties. The Tom Ka Gai (coconut chicken soup) is to die for, the satay soft and delicious. The Thai beef salad is deft and light. Thai Inn serves all the staples, with an ample wine list. Only complaint is a slight overuse of garlic to satisfy the Italian crowd. Book ahead for a spot in the cramped no-smoking section. They will deport you from Italy if you don't eat pasta and pizza. Make sure your visit will be a discreet one.

That reviews says it's the "best" Thai restaurant in Rome, not the only one.

By the way, Mango, the review makes it sound like the Gianicolo is far from the center of Roma, but it's not. If you look at a map, you will see it is just to the left of St. Peter's (in between the Vatican and the Trastevere). It is a very hilly part of Roma, so you might not want to climb up there, and because it is mainly parkland, it's another reason to take a taxi to avoid getting lost or feeling uncomfortable wandering around in the dark.

But the taxi will not cost you a fortune.

If you do more google searches you might come up with the names of the other Thai restos the review alludes to.

I'm pocketing these names for myself because Rome is often a last stop for me when I travel in Italy, and after several weeks of Italian food (which I also cook at home) I like Asian food. Sushi in Italy is often excellent.
