Any suggestions for French language school with not homestay?
 

Has anyone ever studied French in France for a 2-week to a one-month period? Does anyone know of any schools that offer language courses throughout the year? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recently spoke to a friend in l'Isle sur la Sorgue here in Provence and they told me about one in the area. There was an article in the New York Times about it - sometime in September I believe.

There was a poster here whose name escapes me who was going to one in Villefranche. Villefranche is a charming town on the water just next to Nice. By doing a websearch for villefranche AND language school, I found this website

There are MANY. The problem will be narrowing down your choices and figuring out which ones are best for you.

Two years ago I thought I might want to take a two-week intensive French language course in the fall or possibly the spring (not summer). I did a search on Google and found links to sites that list schools that meet certain standards, and then I selected certain locations, each of which often had several schools. There's no shortage of such programs. If I ever look into this again, I may concentrate of comparing the schools in Montpellier, which seems like a good location for me.

If you do a search, you'll be overwhelmed by the number of results.

There was a thread fairly recently, I think, by Kavey re some of her experiences with a language school in Bordeaux.

P.S. I wasn't interested in a homestay either. It was not mandatory in any of the schools that I looked into, though many seemed to encourage it.

Alliance Francaise is the plain-vanilla school. Try a Google search.

Centre Linguistic pour Etrangers (CLE) in Tours. Classes are limited to 7-8 people; great place!

If you search on my screen name, you'll find a long report on the school I studied at for three weeks in the fall of 2003. If you want a live-in, but not home-stay school, this is certainly one to consider. It's Ecole des Trois Ponts, about an hour from Lyon, just outside the town of Roanne. Or just search under 'Ecole des Trois Ponts'; there was some other correspondence about it too.
