Going in October to Paris for the first time and have finally decided on the Marais area. I am looking for a hotel in the $300- price range but it seems that I can only come up with Pavillian De la Reine which is more than I would like to spend,and then other hotels which are on the lower end of the price range. I don't seem to see much in the middle. I am getting nervous because I hear October is a busy time. The hotel is a really important part of a vaction for me so I don't want to make a mistake. I know alot of people feel they only sleep in a hotel but I enjoy the whole experience of a hotel. Any help would be appreciated.

You don;t say what kind of a hotel experience you want.

I agree that the Pavillon de la Reine is pricey by most folks' standards but it is located directly on the Place des Vosges if that is important to you and the rooms are fairly luxurious, if some are not a bit small. And, no, not ALL rooms in Paris hotels are small.

Topping this for you as I suspect you can stay elsewhere in the Marais and cheaper if you wish to.
