Any suggestions for 1st time Med Cruise for our honeymoon?

We are planning to honeymoon in Europe in June/July 99. Am interested in spending a few days relaxing (unsure where) and then taking a 7 day Mediterranean Cruise. I have never been to Europe. My fiance spent 6wks travelling through several countries. I think I would like to focus on ports in France, Italy, and Spain but am open to suggestions. Any feedback regarding preferred Cruise lines, ports, cost saving strategies would be much appreciated.

Some things to consider.... Most Med cruises I know about are more than 7 days (10-14). Do you not want to be at sea that long, or do you not have the time to spare?. Are you okay with spending just 8 hours in one city, sometimes there may be an overnight stay. You may want to do pre and/or post cruise stays. And because one of you has already been and since it is your honeymoon, you may want to look for ports new to both of you so you can experience them together for the first time. <BR>

It was many years ago, but I took a cruise through the Greek Islands. I've also cruised from ports in Italy to Greece (on a different trip). The first trip was one of the best vacations I've ever taken. We sailed to such ports as: Rhodes, Mykonos, Patmos, and Crete. Greek vacations give you great value for your money. I thought the Greek port cities were more beautiful than those I've been to in Italy and Spain (with the exception of Barcelona). I can't remember the name of the cruise lines I've used -- if I can find out what it was I'll post another message to you. In any case, I would imagine that you could get a rather inexpensive flight to Athens from most any European city.

I too am looking for a Mediterranean honeymoon cruise for June/July of 99! I've found a couple so far: Royal Caribbean has a 7day leaving from Barcelona which hits the French Riviera, Italy, Malta and back to Barcelona. I called 800-FLY-CHEAP the other day and it's running about $1250 pp no airfare. There are others, too. Windstar which is a large yacht has that itinerary. Or for Greece and Turkey, try Renaissance Cruises. Very reasonable prices and new ships. When you make your decision, post it here--maybe we will be on the same trip! Good luck.

Angela - May I suggest the Royal Carribean Cruise line Visions of the Seas. My husband and I spent 7 wonderful days and nights crusing the med. We left out of Barcelonna. We took advantage of being in Spain so we started with 5 days in Madrid on our own the we cruised. Our ports were Barcelona, Villefrance(Monte Carlo, Rome, Corsicia, Malta. We were not on our first honeymoon but our third. We celebrated our 30th. There was a mixture of old and young. The ship was brand new (second sailing) the staff was young and fun. We had a wonderful time. Feel free to E-mail me and I'll give you the scoop.
