any such thing as a quiet hotel in Madrid?

I've been planning our trip to Madrid and Seville, and things are coming along nicely. The thing I'm having a hard time with is finding an appealing-looking hotel. Top in the running right now is the Carlos V. It looks like there are many, many hotels near the Plaza Del Sol, which looks to me like Madrid's equivalent of Times Square. Being from NYC, that's the last thing I want.

It seems like Madrid is a big party city, which is fine and all, and that we can ask for a room not facing the street. But could anyone point me towards a relatively quiet hotel location or neighborhood in Madrid? I have the feeling I'm just not using the right keywords in my searches. Thanks in advance for any help!

The zone near the museums and the Parliament (Paseo del Prado, Carrera de San Jeronimo) are lively during the day..but are also quieter in the night, no nightlife there

There are several nice, quiet hotels in the area around Prado and Thyssen museums, the hotels Palace, Ritz, Gran Canarias, Urban and Villa Real, but you’ll have to pay a bit more then what the hotels in and around Sol and along the Gran Via are going for.

The Salamanca district is also quiet at night and a bit more upscale.

We stayed right near the Puetra Del Sol (within a block) at a hotel Rick Steves recommends. It was plenty quiet... after that big protest outside finished

Hi We stayed at Lope de Vega Hotel near Paseo del Prado. It was a quiet hotel in a nice neighborhood near the museums and the Atocha train station. I would stay there again!

Puerta del Sol is one of the most congested areas in Madrid.

If you stay in Madrid around Nov 1-2, it will be quiet.

Thanks, everyone! I just booked a room at the Hotel Arosa for Oct. 10 - 14. We'll see how quiet it is.
