Any salt mine tours OK for 3-year old?

We will be in the Salzburg area (acutally staying about 30 mins south of Salzburg) in late August. I would love to take a salt mine tour but the ones I've been able to find seem to have a minimum age of 4 years. Is anyone aware of others that may allow younger children (our kids are 3 and 6)? Thanks in advance.

For our trip next summer I have researched the salt mines in Halstatt, Hallein, Berchtesgaden and Altausee. They all had a minimum age of 4 years old. I don't know of any other salt mines in the area.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I toured the Berchtesgaden salt mine 2 years ago I don't remeber the age limits. I reluctantly did the tour but it turned out to be a very fun thing to do. The slides literally took my breath away and the 'cruise' across the flooded dome was awesome. I seriously doubt a 3 or 4 year old would enjoy it but I could be wrong. If I had a young child with me I would defer the salt mine and go to Castle Hellbrun instead. Just a thought. Have a nice time!

I also did the Berchte. salt mine tour...it is really geared for older children and adults. Some bits would be scarey for little ones...

Thanks so much for your feedback--I am sure we can find plenty of other things that he will enjoy!
