Any quiet spots left mainland Spain?

Looking for a break in mainland Spain October. Is there anywhere left that isnt too much commercialised. We looking for 5 star hotel with great food near the beach with nice walks.

5 stars near the beach in a non touristy spot looks like mutually exclusive.

Last year we were pleasantly surprised by Malaga, especially by the renovated port with it's choice of excellent restaurants. After having spent a few days there we rented a car and drove inland into an region called Axarquia. http://www.andalucia.com/province/ma...e-axarquia.htm

Small, quaint publos blancos (white villages) with not one single tourist around. An easy drive from and back to Malaga. We promised ourselves to go back one day to explore more. We were there in March with thousands of almond trees and rosemary bushes in bloom.

Another advantage of Malaga is it's proximity to Granada and (among other things to see) the magnificent Alhambra.

I'm headed for Asturias next month.

These are high-end, and near beaches and walks, and mountains, but not sure you can actually take sun or swim in that area in October.

Or look at the Niza or Londres in San Sebastian, both on the beach.

There are some 5-star properties in the hinderland, but for those along or near a beach, check out Finca Cortesin, not too far from Estepona, but not on the beach, and the Gran Hotel Elba Esteponahen, which is on the beach. There is also the Hotel Vistabella in Roses. Hostal de la Gavina overlooks the beach in S'Agaró (Gerona). And you can check out the Alva Park Costa Brava, just down the coast from la Gavina.

Great thanks will check those out.

Second Elisabeth54's suggestion of Málaga. And recently reopened Gran Hotel Miramar from 1926, right on the Malagueta beach, is perhaps the finest hotel in Spain right now: http://www.granhotelmiramarmalaga.com/en/

3000 year old Málaga is genuine, laid-back and good-humoured Andalucian atmosphere and outside the normal Sevilla, Córdoba, Granada tourist track. It's starting to get on people's radar due to the recent growth of world class museums as well as perhaps the best both traditional and cutting edge food scene in the South of Spain. https://www.lonelyplanet.com/spain/andalucia/malaga

Great walks in the many parks or along the seafront. Parque de Málaga, close to Hotel Miramar, is one of my favourite parks in all of Spain: https://www.spain-holiday.com/Malaga...rque-de-malaga

Still tons of non-touristy tapas bars and restaurants, and you also have the typical Málaga chiringuitos/seafront restaurants with the freshest fish and seafood. Both the beaches and the chiringuitos are very popular with locals: https://www.spain-holiday.com/Malaga...nt-restaurants

And just east of the city, as Elisabeth says, you have the wonderful Axarquía comarca: http://www.rusticblue.com/andalucia_...a_axarquia.php

And just north of Málaga city you have Antequera, the so called heart of Andalucía.

Here is also the spectacular Torcal limestone mountain/landscape: https://www.spain-holiday.com/Antequ...tequera-malaga

Or perhaps take a look at small Redondela in the Huelva province: http://www.discoverhuelva.com/town/la-redondela

Four star Hotel Islantilla Golf is close by: https://www.booking.com/hotel/es/isl...ort.en-gb.html

Or four star Barceló Isla Cristina in Isla Cristina is also here, almost right on the huge beach: https://www.booking.com/hotel/es/bar...ina.en-gb.html
