I am in Siena. I will get stuck in Rome next week if the situation does not improve.
I got a Vodafone USB internet stick with 30hrs 3G internet time for 69EU to help me keep up with the latest air traffic news. I am getting 110KB/sec download speed to my Netbook mostly on HSDPA/UMTA.

Are you in London, Seamus!
I could handle being stuck there or in Rome. But I sure understand the frustration especially for those that really need to be able to depart and not knowing when that will be.

DH is in London on a business trip. He was supposed to fly back today, but has managed to re-book for Sunday. That is, if the planes are flying by then. If not, we will have to take it as it comes.

We came over to visit our daughter who's on university semester over here - virgin Atlantic cancelled our tomorrow/Sunday flight home. We have no idea when we can be rebooked......and of course all flights are booked for some days out. UK keeping all grounded till at least 1pm tomorrow although I hear right now that klm has sent up a trial plane and it got back safely. I want very much to get home NOW but realize we are lucky to be in a hotel and will make the best of it- the problem is that my husband is going to miss a golf week due to this! He is whining a bit now that I think on it!

Latest tv news just now
people are stuck in airports in Europe, running out of money for hotels, being told they will not be flying for another 7 days, and the airlines wont even give them their luggage, food, hotels, or any help.
I sure wouldnt be getting on a plane to Europe now.

I don't understand why the airlines will not return passengers luggage to them and I don't understand how legally they can get away with it either. Does anyone have an answer?
Mahya, I had thought about a trip around this time but due to a health problem that I had I didn't make any plans or reservations. I have never been so happy to be here at home in my entire life!
Back to the luggage situation, so passengers are stuck for days with just basically the clothes on their backs and whatever they have in their carryon?

We're Australians and live in London too. We travel a lot and are SO glad not to be caught up in all the travel chaos. Our next trip involving flying is in May but who knows what will happen by then?
I do feel for people stuck in places where they don't want to be. The skies are so quiet, it feels quite weird. We normally see one plane per minute flying in or out of Heathrow.
