Any inexpensive airlines fly between Zurich and Rome?

I'm trying to find an inexpensive airline that flies between Zurich and Rome. The prices I've seen for one way fares are outrageous! Any cheapies??

petlover:

helvetic air (helvetic.com), Switzerland's "low-cost" carrier (LOL!!) offers one way tickets at about 240 Swiss Francs.

From Basel, 50 miles west of Zurich, easyjet (easyjet.com) offers one-way tickets to Rome Ciampino starting at about 49 Swiss Francs.

Hope this helps

Phil

The flight between Basel and Rome does not start until June 24. The price depends heavily on the date you want to fly and how much in advance you buy your ticket.

EasyJet pulled out of Zürich in October because of high gate fees.

Ok, then, how much is the added transportation cost from Zurich to Basel?

Burp.

PS Basel's main station is about an hour train trip from Zürich. But the train does not go to the airport.
You take a bus from the station.

You can get the price at www.sbb.ch
You have to go as far as asking to buy the ticket to see the prices.

there is a stop on the bus route on the way to the airport called Brausebad.

I guess the Swiss see no real humor in it, but the word translates literally as shower bath.

While I'm glad to see that there are answers here, any question like this ought to get some mention of www.whichbudget.com where answers will (almost) always be found.

Best wishes,

Rex

Helvetic air is too expensive. Have a look at Air Berlin: http://www.airberlin.com/

You can also input the proposed itinerary at www.skyscanner.net

There is an airline, Esay Jet, which connects many European cities at very low prices. All the young people use it; it's kind of Europe's answer to Jet Blue. My daughter used it last summer quite cheaply. It is well regarded with a good safety record.

Good luck.

Don't forget to look at the "Swiss" airline prices. They are offering very good deals at the moment.
