Any ideas on less expensive airfare from US to Spain in July?
Does anyone know of a charter airline or other option to come up with a less expensive airfare to Madrid this July? I have checked all the major US carriers and Iberia and it appears that the best prices I can find are right around $1,000. I am hoping to find something cheaper.

In the last couple of years I've gone to Madrid from Newark in July. In those two ocassions the fares stayed around $1,000 until March when they came down to around $750, at which time I bought the ticket. They didn't go any lower than that, at least not on the nonstop from Newark in Continental.

July in high season. You either take what you can get now before most of the flights are booked, or you'll end up waiting to see what opens up. My advice, if you're looking for the least expensive tickets, is to contact a travel agent who deals with ticket consolidators. You'll find that these are the least expensive anytime of the year, if you can fly when they have a space available.

I also live in DC area. I just did a search on kayak.com for airfare from IAD to Madrid (put in dates for July 1 to July 8) and go airfare starting at $550 (with a link to book at Orbitz). You might want to check out Kayak.
Also -- when I flew to Madrid, I flew roundtrip from DCA (not Dulles) via Newark.
Good luck.

Sorry...I've never even *heard* of them! I did a brief search here on Air Comet and it looks like there is limited info and that it may be chartered by certain travel companies. Here's a link to the most (sadly) info I found on it:
