Any Fodorites in Paris Saturday, March 19th?

After my Alsatian expedition I'll be in Paris on Sat. March 19th.

Any one want to meet for an afternoon kir?

Grandmere1 Feb 13th, 2005 05:38 PM

We Pgh-ers plan to be together that day; we'll raise our coffee cups to you and your trip!
Have a wonderful time.

StCirq Feb 13th, 2005 07:10 PM

I actually might be there, Indy. I'm waiting to find out if one of my clients has enough people for a cooking lesson/tour the day before. If so, I'm there and would thoroughly enjoy sharing a kir - well, not actually sharing the KIR, but sharing the moment;)

Scarlett Feb 13th, 2005 07:14 PM

Hi indy!
We will have left by then, so I will have an Honorary Kir at home to toast you ((D))

LVSue Feb 13th, 2005 07:18 PM

Wish I were there! But I'll join everyone in a kir. I even have a teeny bottly of champagne in the fridg--might indulge in a kir royale!

(This IS going in my date book!)

dln Feb 13th, 2005 07:26 PM

David, my husband just brought me home a bottle of creme de cassis from his last European jaunt so the two of us will raise a glass of the good stuff and toast you! Wish we were in Paris again! We all had such a nice afternoon the last time we met you there. ((F))

Dave_in_Paris Feb 13th, 2005 10:09 PM

This is another maybe rather than a yes. We'll be in Paris if we're not in Burgundy. If we're in town, we'd enjoy a kir and your company!

SharonG Feb 14th, 2005 05:44 AM

Yes, I'll be there. Would love a Kir Royale!

Dave_in_Paris Feb 14th, 2005 07:19 AM

We cede to Sharon! Have a great afternoon.

indytravel Feb 14th, 2005 08:02 AM

Sounds like it could work out. :-)

SharonG we can meet and hopefully others can make it. Do you want to recommend a favorite establishment for a kir? I'm staying in the 1st so anyplace is fine with me.

I'll keep this topped occasionally so others may see it.

Dave_in_Paris Feb 14th, 2005 08:54 AM

Of course we'd be honored to be included in a group!

jlsayre Feb 14th, 2005 01:34 PM

At this point I'm not for sure if I'll be able to meet but please post the time and place in case I can break away. We leave the states on March the 3rd for spain and will end up in Paris and the husband and friends are returning on the 16th but i have family in Paris so will stay till the 22nd so as you can see I'll be in Paris so if I'm not with family I'll be there. Great idea.

akm_tn Feb 14th, 2005 02:21 PM

I will be with SharonG, so count me in!

melissa19 Feb 15th, 2005 05:41 AM

last year i met with some folks in paris at the weekly wine-tasting at a shop in the 6th. (the name escapes me, but i could find out.) it was loads of fun and a great place to hang out for a while. i think we even got a special champagne tasting!

however, meeting ANYWHERE in paris will be fabulous! i'll be there a few weeks later . . . :)

have fun!

SharonG Feb 15th, 2005 08:07 AM

Oh dear, I don't have a favorite place. Can anybody help us with that?

StCirq Feb 15th, 2005 08:27 AM

Well, it's not at all certain I'll even BE there, but the last time I did this we met at Les Editeurs and it worked out great. It's a hop, skip and a jump from the Odéon metro, the drinks were good, and some of us ended up having dinner there, which was quite good. Just a thought.

SharonG Feb 15th, 2005 09:58 AM

St.Cirq, if you tell us where that place is, it sounds great and I can be there.

indytravel Feb 15th, 2005 10:07 AM

www.lesediteurs.fr

It's mostly French but the menu is in English. That's under the "Cartes" tab.

Unfortunately the "acces" link doesn't bring up a map.

You can key their address into the pagesjaune site to bring up a very good map:

This works for me Sharon. It looks great. :-)

indytravel Feb 15th, 2005 10:49 AM

Let's go with this. I'll be there at 4:30pm for at least an hour. If you're running late don't worry.

Luckily that's the area I stayed in last time I was there. Not to mention got lost in. See you and anyone else who wants to come on the 19th!

AGM_Cape_Cod Feb 15th, 2005 03:23 PM

Gee David, too bad it wasn't a week later. We will be in St Remy on the 19th celebrating my father's 85th birthday. We will be in Paris from the 23rd to the 27th.

indytravel Feb 15th, 2005 03:49 PM

Provence sounds wonderful AGM. I'm doing my Alsatian tour the week before the GTG: Reims, Nancy and Metz.

One of these cold winter trips I'm going to have to wise up and head south for a change. :-)

I hope Dave_in_Paris, StCirq, jlsayre and a few others can make it.

AGM_Cape_Cod Feb 15th, 2005 04:01 PM

We went for a day trip to Reims in March. The cathedral is gorgeous. We went to our favorite champagne house-Lanson-and left reassured. They have 25 million bottles in their cellars!

indytravel Feb 15th, 2005 04:09 PM

Hey AGM. I was just going to do a day in Reims and move on until I found out how much there is there. A couple of nice sounding museums, the cathedral of course, and oh, the champagne. 25 million? That ought to last me. :-)

Dave_in_Paris Feb 15th, 2005 09:37 PM

Aralynn and I hope to see you at Les Editeurs on the 19th!

SharonG Feb 16th, 2005 04:56 AM

It's a date! See you all on the 19th.

craisin Mar 1st, 2005 01:01 PM

Oh, two days too soon! The 19th is my sister's wedding day so while I'm toasting her on her big day, I'll whisper a secret toast to you fodorites in Paris! I will be in Paris on the 21st though...can't wait, can't wait, can't wait TO GO!!!

shbethy Mar 1st, 2005 01:30 PM

yes! We'll be there, but heading off to Brussels at some point that day--but who knows! taking it as it comes!
where will you be??
I'm still fishing around for a budget hotel, so don't know where our base is yet.

StCirq Mar 1st, 2005 01:33 PM

Unfortunately, my dad has to have major surgery on March 16 now, so I won't be heading to Paris this March after all.

I'll raise a verre de vin to you all from here, though!

palette Mar 1st, 2005 01:38 PM

St. Cirq, hope your Dad's surgery goes well.

indytravel Mar 1st, 2005 04:43 PM

StCirq I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad's need for surgery. I hope it goes really well.

shbethy this is the time & place. It's on the Left Bank. Drop by if you can:

jane00 Mar 2nd, 2005 09:29 AM

Hi Indytravel,
We'll be in Paris Mar. 19........but i have a group of 6 so do you still want to share a kir? Jane00

indytravel Mar 2nd, 2005 09:40 AM

Of course! The more the merrier.

I seriously doubt if enough of us gather to completely take over Les Editeurs. :-)

SharonG Mar 2nd, 2005 09:45 AM

I second Indytravel's sentiments: the more the merrier. I'll be there with two crazy friends (the Tennessee Trio of Terror) so please come.

indytravel Mar 2nd, 2005 09:45 AM

By the way jane00 here's an Ofoto link to my pictures from December.

No, I'm not the one behind bars! Though I did feel that way at the end of day at Angouleme's food festival. :-D

Woody Mar 2nd, 2005 12:46 PM

Sounds like fun. We will be in Paris that week, and hope to attend.

Woody

indytravel Mar 2nd, 2005 03:52 PM
