Hi VS---yes, there are lockers for baggage right at the Kandersteg train station, and you should leave your bags there. Should you have time, and not wish to picnic, the hotel Oeschinensee at the lake serves wonderful food---lots of fresh vegetables from the garden; great ice cream desserts. But to have time for the chairlift and Rodelbahn you will probably want to picnic. I hope the weather is glorious for you.

I too am travelling from Milan to Interlaken in June -- what are these toboggan rides you are mentioning? Are there others in the Berner Oberland? A website? We will be with our two teenagers, and I heard someone refer to bobsled runs before, but I don't know anything about this! Sounds fun . . .

They are actually called "summer luge" or "alpine slide" in the US. German is Rodelbahn or Sommerrodelbahn. Basically you ride on a small wheeled sled and control the speed with a handbrake; they go down hill through many curves. Here is the website for the one near Kandersteg:
Select "summer" and then "toboggan run".
I believe there are more around Interlaken but someone else will have to say.
