Any experience with airbus?
My travel agent just informed kme that I will be returning from from Vienna to Atlanta on air bus from Air france. Has anyone had any experience flying on on such an aircraft? I have never even seen them!!!Have always flown to Europe on 767 or 777. Thanks in advance.

I flew an airbus last summer on Olympic Airlines from JFK to Athens. It was a brand new plane and very nice. It's a wide-body plane, with two isles, and I think it was a 2-4-2 configuration. This plane had individual video monitors on each seatback, so you could watch any one of about 6 recent movies or documentaries at any time.

Martha
Airbus is jointly manufactured by a handful of European countries including the UK and France, probably Germany too. You're probaby flying on an A-340, a four-engine jumbo-jet that will probably be very new and comfortable. The quality of Airbus jets ranks high in the same league as Boeing and threatening Boeing's dominant market-share in the passenger jet market. Don't worry or hesitate about getting on this airplane.

We have flown the airbus several times. It has always been a 2-4-2 configuration as Martha said. They were all quite nice. Much better than the old 747's! I loved having the choice of several movies and my own private screen.
Have fun!

Which airlines? Flew two weeks ago on an airbus on Lufthanza. 3-4-3 configuration. No individual video monitor. Flew home on 747/400. From the inside you could barely tell one plane from the other. The seats and seat configuration were identical. Both planes very comfortable.

Correction. Sorry! Airbus had 2-4-2 seat configuration. Otherwise seats on both planes were the same.

There have only been a handful of crashes on Airbus jets in the company's thirty-year existence...mostly in the third world. No worries.

just back. flew swiss air airbus330. sorry to disagree with other posters but the series is a glorified cattle car. the tv screen is hard to read when the person in front of you tilts the chair back fully especially if you wear glasses. the pitch was barely adequate. the seat width was to narrow further encoumbered by the control piece for the tv and the telephone are on the inside of the seat partition further taken up hip room. the 2 aisles are to narrow to walk in with ease. many people in our group had the same opinion. one good tdhing there was an adjustable lumbar support system. the plane is a cattle car designed to move people but not with comfort in mind. also cu travel letter agrees basically with this

I've flown on the A340 on US air from Phil. to Rome twice, one round trip in economy and one in business. I prefer the plane to the 767 which was my next favorite long-haul aircraft. The individual video system made the difference for me, it makes the trip much more bearable. If you don't like a movie or show, you can just stop it and watch something else.
