Any comments on Collette

We are in the process of planning a tour for next spring/summer. Our TA gave us a booklet from Collette Vacations which has some attractive sounding tours at attractive prices. However some things I hear about Collette are very unattractive. Does anyone out there have some advice regarding this company?

What do you consider to be unattractive? That would help in giving advice.

I took an amazing two week coach Colette Tour to Berlin, Prague, Budapest, Vienna, Krakow and Warsaw. The amazing part of it was due to an extremely knowledgeable and affable tour manager and our wonderful bus driver. They both went out of their way to accommodate requests, questions, needs and generally made all 45 of us very happy to be on the adventure with them.

Expect to have lots of walking to sites. The hotels ran the gamut from a cement block communist built horror to brand new Western chains, execrable food to exceptional. For the most part it was an interesting study in the extremes of that part of the world. Hotels were not centrally located which is par for the course on a "budget" type tour, unless specifically noted up front.

I had a great time and felt there was definitely value for the money paid. The optional choices offered, however, can add up. Awareness of this and careful planning needed.

I joined or belonged to the Sofitel, Sheraton and Westin frequent guest programs and received nice perks along the way - champagne and chocolates on my birthday which occurred during the trip, free cocktails and a basket of fresh fruit and cookies, nice surprises along the way.
