Any beach recommendations in Barcelona?
 

Planning to go to Barcelona early September and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for going to the beach in or near Barcelona?

The beaches between Port Olimpic and Barceloneta.
The part near Barceloneta is a bit more popular because you have the small supermarkets a stone's throw away from the beach in case you need some food or drinks. Or the beachfront restaurants and bars. If the sea is a bit rough, there is also one part of the beach protected by wavebreakers (?).
You can take the metro to Barceloneta station and walk down Pg J.Borbo on the nice promenade along the old harbor. But also several bus lines go down to the beach from many parts of the city. I'd try to avoid sundays because it gets really busy, and the beach bars (almost) double their prices.

You can rent deck chairs and umbrellas there, but I have no clue about the prices. They usually rent by day, so it's kinda costly to stay just for an hour or so. You can't rent towels, but you will find many cheap towels or other beach gear in the little stores near the waterfront.

I don't know what family friendly means, but there have been familes w/ kids everywhere, so I think the answer must be yes.

I don't wuite know what you mean by "family friendly" either. It is my impression that the beaches are all "top optional", though they are sand rather than pebbles, if smooth play areas are what you mean.

Sorry about any confusion about "family friendly". I've seen some beaches that are geared to kids in their teens and 20's and some that attract more families. I'm looking for a beach that families go to. Hopefully that makes sense. And, definitely prefer smooth sand to pebbles. Thanks everyone.
