Here are a few suggestions for wineries that belong to the "Gallo Nero" consortium, Castello di Verazano in Greve (tel: 055 854243) (fax: 055 854241)
Villa Calcinaia in Greve (tel and fax: 055 854008)
San Felice, just further near Siena (tel and fax: 0577 359223)
Fattoia La Ripa, Castellina in Chianti (web site www.laripa.it)
Ive never been to these particular ones but attended the Chianti Classico "convention in NYC a couple of years ago and wasa able to collect brochures from these producers. They all look beautiful. Verrazzano has a nice bar-restaurant in the heart of Florence on Via dei Tavolini.
Also if you get yoursef to Greve, there are many signposts as you enter the area indicating different vinyards. Have fun and good luck.

Fluffy, It's called "Cantinetta di Verrazzano", located between the Ponte Vecchio and the Duomo, one block south of Via Del Corso and just east of Via dei Calzaiuoli. Tel 055 268590. It's very cute, they make some of their foods right there on a very visible brick oven. It's very casual and there is usually a good crowd for lunch. Also a nice leaather shop across the street, Raphaella's where we've had good luck with a coat and a jacket. We'll be there in two weeks. Can't wait. Hope your trip is wonderful.

Peggyann, YOU SO RULE!
I think the Varrazzano is fairly close to my hotel,I'll try and have lunch there, my first day & thanks for the tip about the leather store.
I'm packing a suit case inside a suit case...planning on doing alot of shopping.
Much thanks
