Any advice on a romantic restaurant in Venice?
 

I am looking for a romantic restaurant to take my boyfriend for his birthday, perhaps something a bit dressy... Any advice (apart from da fiore!). Has any one been to any of the grand hotel restaurants?<BR>Thanks,<BR>alice

If you're a female taking a man to Da Fiore!!!!. It too was me taking a man (I'd booked it in my name for my husbands 50th birthday) - & they firstly gave me a menu with no prices and then when bill paying came & I took the bill & gave them my credit card they came back and gave him the slip to sign. it was all fixed quite happily & I probably should have told them beforehand - but it a quite traditional restaurant in that way.

The rooftop restaurant at the Danelli is about as romantic as it gets. You look down over the whole lagoon and across to San Giorgio. Another good view is available at the Europa Regina. The restaurant is at canal level and looks directly onto the Santa Maria Della Salute church. The gondolas line up nearby and you can hear the accordian players and the singers doing Santa Lucia. It's hokey but terribly romantic. The best food is at the Monaco and Grand Canal also on the Grand Canal (as is the Europa Regina.) The view is almost as good as from the Europa but it's closer to the gondola and vaporetta stops so it's a little more hectic. It too has canalside dining. All three of these are or can be a bit dressy. All three ooze romance.

I agree with Julie, the Danileli's roof top restaurant is tremendously romantic. The view can't be beat, and the food is delicious.<BR><BR>Another suggestion is the Saturnia&International restaurant, the "Caravella". There are two settings, one inside, used in Winter, and the garden, for the warm weather. The food is superb, as is the service, and both are quite settings are quite romantic.<BR><BR>Regards,<BR><BR>S
