Antiquing in England

Hi Folks,
I'm looking for a tour operator to do some antiquing, historic sites, good food, and quaint hotels, B&B's etc. in England June 2002 with Mom for her 75th birthday. Cotswolds, London, Newark, whatever. We're experienced travelers and don't want to do an "If it's Tuesday, It Must Be Belgium" type of tour. Looking for a small group with knowledgable tour guide. Anyone have a good referral? You can also phone me at 1-800-622-2677 x 1008 M-F 9:00am - 5:00pmPST/USA Many thanks for the kind assist.

There are 2 companies that specialize in antiquing-they do 3 separate itineraries- England , or France , or Barge cruises thru Franch. They are named THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS and based in Charlotte,NC phone (704)333-2109 and have been doing this for 35 yrs. Their rates do Not include air-but they have all the ins on where to get best prices, will take care of shipping for you etc..all at a fair price. YOu can call them direct. They advetrize in Southern Accent Magazine. The 2nd company is called Antiques Abroad---they are also in CHarlotte,CN and their phone is (704) 332-5577 and again they do the same thing as the group above, but they have a website--www.antiqueshipper.com...all trips are linited to 14 people adn the are both very first class (ie.not cheap) but call them and see if this is what you want....If they are too expensive, you can do your own thing---we rented a car a couple of years ago and went to all these antique fairs and shows---the Cotswolds will be the Most expensive place to antique as the closer to London--the higher the cost of items. But we got some wonderful bargains at a fair in a town called Shepton Mallet--they were going to have another fair next month, but cancelled it due to foot and mouth disease--see,their fairs are held in/outdoor on farmland--similar to our antique flea markets but the items are FABULOUS...Check on the internet on Antiquing in England-there's a website that lists all the shows, fairs and auctions for a full year. If you have any other questions, feel free to e mail me directly....
