Antique shopping? ...
Has anyone had great finds or have any suggestions for buying antiques in Italy?I am looking for recommendations for stores or flea markets. I will be in Rome and the south the first two weeks of July.I have heard of Porta Portese any comments?

I found it to be mostly what i'd call flea market stuff, maybe if you get there really early like 6 Am there may be some goodies but they were all gone by 9 when we got there.

Thanks for the tip moonbeam, anyone else?

If you like russian icons from the XVII centuries and later, go to an antique shop in piazza capranica.
Prepare your senses and your wallet.
For miscelaneous antiques try the via coronari (you can start from the Piazza Navona side, and enjoy a small tratoria in the beggining for lunch).
|
There're some antique shops at Via Margutta and Via del Babuino, close to Piazza del Popolo and the Spanish Steps.

Also, I've seen beautiful antiques between Piazza Navona and Campo dei Fiori, but don't recall which street it was.

Regards,

S

Take thyself north to the fabulous Arezzo antique market held the first weekend of every month.

Thanks for the replies, I've heard about Arezzo and we are never around there at the right time. Please keep the suggestions coming.
