Anthony Bourdain

In the New York Times ihe arts)
Who no longer is a chef but a professional eater.
I agree with him when he says, "Any stranger who shows an honest curiosity about what the locals think is the best food is going to be welcomed,,,,,,,When you eat their food and you seem happy, people sitting around a table open up and interesting things happen."
SO TRUE!!!!

His show which detailed Paris and especially the new market was just outstanding. He got the essence of the French in that show more closely than any tv production I have ever seen.

And can you tell me. How does he eat all that and look the way he does?

Maybe it's the cigarette he always has going. And does he suck on those things.

Can't say I've ever seen him turn down anything to eat, drink OR smoke on any of his shows. Seems to me that he sure lives by that statement.

Welcome back, Mimi. We have missed you. How was your trip? Jackie O sends lot of licks.

IMHO, he is a refreshing, squinty-eyed, iconoclastic, foul-mouthed, talented, interesting wise-guy who smokes like a chimney, has bad eating manners, and probably drinks to excess. I watch every one of his shows!

LOL....so true USNR

You and me both, Desert Sue. He's a bad boy.... ;-)

I've seen him twice in person. The first was at a Miami food festival. He got a rock star reception from the audience and he wasn't even cooking anything. The second was at a book signing and he was hung over from the previous night's party at Les Halles in Miami. I was nervous about asking him to sign my books, but the staff had us write the names on post-its - I'm sure so he could remember the names and even then, he got one of mine wrong. He's great live.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but Bourdain absolutely turns me off. I watched one show and decided it was the last.

Donna, I have a confession to make--I didn't like AB the first time I saw him. Maybe if you give him one more chance you will grow to like him. But in either case, you are certainly entitled to your own opinion.

Another favorite of mine is Cash Peters. He is a hoot!! His show comes on Monday night just before Anthony Bourdain.

I prefer his books to his TV show, starting with Kitchen Confidential.

If only he can make his Park Ave. bistro half as good as his new TV show...
