That is too many cities in too few days. Going from one city to another, even if all goes smoothly, takes at least half of a day, often more, especially if you add in time spent in checking in and out, packing and unpacking, going to and from the train stations or airports, etc.
Consider stopping over in fewer places, and doing some daytrips to other locations if you like.

Life is a river.

No, you probably can't fit a 30" suitcase into an overhead rack.

Live in the moment you are in, not in the next moment you will be in.

Yes, you will no doubt have some days that have miserable weather such as too hot and humid or to cold and perhaps windy or rainy.

Yes, you will probably have a least one day that you do not feel physically wonderful due to jetlag, overeating, or just because you are coming down with a cold or a virus.

Yes, you will no doubt come across at least one grumpy shopowner, one waiter with an attitude, one chef that does not know how to cook properly, one unpleasant and surely hotel employee.

Yes you will probably have one hotel room that has the smallest bathroom you have ever been in along with the smallest bedroom you have ever seen and the most miserable coffin like shower without a shower curtain you have ever used.

Yes, you will probably have at least one problem with your flight. A long security line, a long delay regarding the airline departure or landing, a cramped and miserable airplane seat, an inconsiderate passenger sitting next, behind or across the aisle from you along with one miserable and rude airline attendant.

No, none of these things will ruin your vacation. You will come home with beautiful memories.

Yes, two weeks later you will be thinking of where you want to travel to next and how you will budget your money in order to do this.

10. On Tripadvisor.com lots of people have stayed at that hotel.

11. mappy.com or mapquest.com

12. You probably won't find it there. If you can't live without it, just take it with you.

They are no more rude than people anywhere else. They tend to value privacy and courtesy more than wanting to become your best friend. If you offer a smile and a bonjour you will almost always be offered the same in return. They are able to distinguish between a government whose policies they disagree with, and individuals they meet. You should try and do the same.

First, see starrsville's answer above (posting #4).
Beyond that, in order to visit churches you should not be wearing sleeveless tops, or shorts, or skirts above the knee, or have a bare midriff.

helsinkiflyer May 30th, 2005 05:04 AM

No, you won´t be getting free refills on soda in restaurants. And there might be ice cubes or there might not be icecubes with your drink.

helsinkiflyer May 30th, 2005 05:15 AM

BTW, great answers here, but not many questions, so someone please post some questions too.

13. Leave your toddler home.

14. Renting an apartment may be cheaper than a hotel (especially if you need two rooms).

15. Fodors is great.

kleeblatt May 30th, 2005 05:54 AM

Hey Zeus, I almost wanted to stay that too! I know that when the Swiss want to book a resort in Southern Turkey, they try to avoid hotels with lots of Russian tourists.

BabsB May 30th, 2005 09:12 AM

Take half as much stuff as you think you will need and twice as much money. If you are going to the UK take four times as much money :)

Scarlett May 30th, 2005 09:38 AM

No matter where you go, there you are. Enjoy it, but don't expect everyone to be just like you.

- Never ask people who spend 2 to 4 weeks a year in Europe what Europeans think.

- As cheap as ice is, you won't be seeing much on your trip unless you're heading for a winter holiday. Otherwise, you can live without ice for a couple of weeks. No, really. It's possible.

- If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, chances are it'll go well with a nice glass of red.

- 33% think you should wear it, 33% think you shouldn't, 33% don't care. But at least they've learned to make their own decisions. Find a webcam in Paris and see what people are wearing as they walk by if you're having trouble with personality development.

LOL sorry, grumped because I've been rearranging flights all morning. Adios!
