Another Scotland question - Angus Glens
 

We have found a Jacobite ancestor who was deported to the Colonies in 1716. Fun, right? For us - not for him, poor man - but he was a tough one, fortunately for me and all his descendants. :)

This young man was from Eassie in Angus, hence the desire to explore this area a bit. I know Eassie is not actually <i>in</i> the Glens, but they look gorgeous.

Now the problem. Has anyone visited the Angus Glens and, if so, which did you prefer? Too many to choose from and too little time is the problem, although we will have a full day to explore the Glen(s). Another day for Eassie and Glamis Castle.

I kind of think we can't lose whichever we choose, but would like some opinions.

All Are lovely -- If I had to pick one it would probably be Glen Cova. But IMO/IME you don't have to stick to just one. You can explore the whole area in the day you have -- including a visit to Edzell Castle / Glen Esk.

Ya know -- I wouldn't worry too much about <i>where</i> exactly since you can visit Edzell/Kirriemuir/Glamis/Eassie from just about anywhere in the area. Just about anywhere from Coupar Angus/Blairgowrie to Edzell or even over on the coast would be a good base.

I'd just look for a B&B/hotel that looks particularly attractive.

From your other thread -- you'll want to fit in some quick stops in places like Aberlemno, Tealing, Airlie, etc for all the Standing stones.

I'm assuming you know about the standing stone in the grounds of the Manse in Glamis? You just walk in to see it.

The Aberlemno stones are definitely worth seeing, particularly the Battle Stone by the church (which is also worth a quick look as a typical small Scottish church).
