Another pickpocket scam in Paris
I just wanted to tell readers about another pickpocket scam in Paris which I nearly fell into despite living here for 38 years! The thief "accidentally" drops coins near your train seat coming from the airport and his mate grabs a bag from behind you. You can read my post with further details and readers' comments on other scams to watch out for on

covertly promoting our blogs are we.

38 years and you'd never seen the ring trick! You don't get out much! LOL

A very tall friend of mine was out at market somewhere in Paris...saw an artwork he liked and went back to an ATM to withdraw a few hundred euros
Walking back he was confronted by a 'drunk' guy ( there was a smell of alcohol) who started to joke around with my friend and say things like: hey i bet i can pick you up big fella He then tried to lift my friend by putting his hands low under his buttocks and promptly had his wallet out of the jeans pocket...quickly passed to an accomplice and both disappeared into the crowd My friend realised that the alcohol was probably just dabbed onto the clothing or whatever to be a little more convincing |
Chillout. No actually, I'm not covertly promoting my blog. It just seemed easier than rewriting the post for readers. It's a concern for a lot of people.
ParisAmsterdam. There must be a misunderstanding. I didn't mention the ring trick. I've naturally seen it on many occasions. It's the coins dropped in the metro that I had never seen before. And being Parisian, I don't take the metro very often. I take the bus or walk. |
OK, so you haven't experienced a whole bunch of criminal behavior or have cancer. There are worse conditions to be in IMO.

Well, I tried looking at your blog. The silly thing just locked up when I tried to scroll down your home page. Maybe you need a new host....

Oldest trick in the book. How can anyone not have any clue about this? My first experience with this type of misdirection scam was playing on a row of slots in Vegas many years ago. I was winning and had a full coin well when a little old Asian lady next to me starts asking me how to play. I kindly obliged answering all her questions only to turn back to my slot machine and notice the well was practically empty. It was a lesson well learned at the tender age of 21, give or take. :)
