Another Paris Apartment Question...HELP!
 

I couldn't find anything so I'm hoping there's a Foderite out there who hasn't posted. Has anyone had experience with parisianflat.com? There are 3 flats available for my last minute trip- Breteuil, Casimir and Didier with 5 out of our 8 nights at Dauphine. Comments on location etc would be greatly appreciated

I am really too jealous to respond despite some experience with the areas, but not near as gorgeous accomodation. IMHO, the Didier option is better than the other two (which seem to be the same?) Was that the question?

I agree. Gorgeous, but not inexpensive.
I know the 16th a little but not this area and I don't know anything about parisianflat.com. I hoped someone might have personal experience.
Also location, location and location!

Casimir is probably the best location--it's a very quiet street, near the basilic St. Clotilde--can't recommend the 16th as it's really Siberia and you'll spend beaucoup time getting to where things happen. Have you tried www.vrbo.com ? Regards, moi

I don't know about the specific apartment you mention, but we once rented another apt on rue St. Didier and loved the location. The 16th is primarily residential, but there were plenty of bistros and lots of shops, including an indoor mall-type place with supermarche on rue St. Didier, a Monoprix a block away, and plenty of shops on Avenue Victor Hugo. Can't advise about transportation as we walked everywhere, but it is an easy walk to the Trocadero, Arc, etc. Would stay in that area again any time.

I did a search for "parisianflat" in the search box under the Europe forum and came up with some hits and comments from other Fodorites that have stayed at various parisianflat properties.

From reviewing the threads, it appears that people have been pretty satisfied with the company, and the apartments look really nice.

Sounds like a difference of opinion as to the 16th.
I have also emailed parispiedaterre.com but have had no response. They have a very centrally located apartment http://www.parispiedaterre.com/Pages...rties/NSL.html but I'm afraid it will feel awfully claustrophobic!

I'd love to add another apartment to the mix. Anyone have an opinion on this one? What would you choose?

Oh, too weird for words: we stayed in an apartment in the Rue de Nesle some years ago. It is an amazingly good locale, lively during the day, quiet by 5pm, full of charm and easy access. You will also find numerous references to the street in a book by Mordecai Richler called "Barney's Version". Now, all this wouldn't be so remarkable except that Rue de Nesle is such a small street and mostly taken up with book wholesalers. I think that the charm of both apartment and area would compensate for claustrophobia, but then I don't suffer from that problem.

I was interested in a couple of the selections a couple years ago from parisianflat, but upon emailing I discovered that none of their apartments were airconditioned. I only do AC in the summer in Paris, and was surprised for the price and quality that their flats didn't have it. Maybe some do now? They've added more flats since then I notice.

I'm sure this reply is too late to help with your decision, but my family of 4 stayed at the Breteuil apartment for 4 days in February. We loved it! The balcony has a good size table and chairs, with wonderful views of the entire city. The cozy, well designed bedroom has a view of the top of the eiffel tower. The apartment is lovely and exactly as it appears in the photos. Most of all we really loved the neighborhood. We were the only tourists around and we were able to feel like locals at the corner boulangerie and bistro after a day or two.

My step-daugthers are begging to go back to Paris for next year's winter break.

Patrick, I only do AC in summer in France, and although there are a more apts with AC every year, they are still few and far between. It hasn't seemed to affect the price all that much since, like you, I've seen many that were more expensive that didn't offer it.

They have some lovely apartments there. The one with the view of the Basilica is amazing.
