Another London theatre question for Patrick.
Patrick or anyone else with information: You gave me great information this week and I did make reservatons for Rules between the two plays. Another night I will be seeing Les Mis at the Palace theatre. I will be either coming from Leicester Square or Tottemham Court Road Tube stop. What restaurant would you recommend for pretheatre dining near the Palace Theatre? Also which tube stop would be the easiest to come from to find the Palace? I appreciate all your great help. Thanks

To the top for help.

Sheia: The Palace is very close to the Leicester Square tube stop. As you exit the tube station, turn right and walk about a block and a half. You will see the Palace straight ahead on the left. If you turn left upon leaving the stop, the first street on the right has several old pubs. We ate at the Salisbury and were very satisfied. There are many restaurants of varying types right around the theatre itself. I saw Les Mis Tuesday night and loved the production and the theatre.

OK, Sheila, I'm not going to be as exact on this one as the other one. By then you will have become pretty familiar with the area, and you will have seen the Palace theatre when you go to see Mama Mia. A couple of suggestions for eating. You will be right on the edges of Chinatown and it would be a good opportunity to eat at any of those places. Just do a stroll and pick one that looks relatively busy (obviously the more Chinese you see eating, the better the food probably is). They all have menus posted. I really like The Dragon Inn. For a more upscale place, I really like Mon Plaisir on Monmouth, pretty close to Les Miserables. It's like a nice French bistro on the Left Bank, really good food and moderate but not inexpensive prices. You are also on the edge of Soho, so there is the nice and popular Soho, Soho which is nicer upstairs, more casual and cheaper downstairs. Or another thought is if you have a little time before or after Mama Mia, stroll that area and you will likely find a restaurant that strikes your fancy for the night you see Les Miz which is quite near there. Soho is filled with places. The Red Fort is fun and good for Indian food -- something you really should do in London.

Thankyou Marty and Patrick. Everyone in our group likes Chinese food so these are good ideas. Also I have never eaten at an Indian restaurant so that might be worth a try. Thanks again for all your help.

Sheila: Sorry I gave you some wrong info. To go the pub area that I mentioned, turned left when you leave Leicester Square station, and the pubs are on the first or second Left! Someone earlier had mentioned the area as having many historic pubs.
