another ATM question
 

I have an ATM card that is only connected to a savings account.
will i have trouble using it is italy?
My checking account is with another bank and they said it would take 2 weeks to get a card!
I leave next sunday, the 18th.

Yes indeed this could be a problem. Is there any way you can open a checking account in the same bank where you already have the ATM card connected to the savings account? Make sure they connect it to checking ASAP, and test it before leaving the country.

Yes, as P_M says you do have a problem. And just opening a new acct linked to your savings acct probably won't solve it. For most ATMs, you need to have the money in a checking acct.

But you should easily have enough time to open a cking acct and get an ATM card

But I can't believe your bank says it takes 2 weeks to get a card. Every time I've taken out a new card in a bank or credit union - they had the blanks right there an it was activated in a few minutes.

I guess I was unclear--when I said open a new checking account linked to savings, I meant to deposit money needed for your trip into that new checking account. Thanks, janisj. :-)
