Anniversary in Paris
Does anyone have any suggestion on how to make an anniversary even more special in Paris in July?
Thanks!! |

Take her to Chaneel for a new lipstick, they are very nice and will gift wrap it if you ask. I use the ribbon and camelia as a choker in summer.
Take her to a florist, let her pick the flowers she loves to take back to the hotel. Buy picknick food and eat it at a spot by the Seine but be sure it's special food, some champagne a baguette, paté, fruit, cheese, better than any restaurant for love. |
My husband surprised me with a trip for Paris for our anniversary and it was fantastic. And I know you will find plenty of helpful advice on this sight to make your anniversary special. My husband had the newspaper Le Figaro delivered to our hotel room every day and the first day he told me I should practice my rusty French by reading it. In the back of the paper was an ad in French with my name on it telling me how much he loved me, Happy Anniversary, etc. He had arranged the whole thing with the concierge of the hotel. It blew me away. We have the paper and a picture of us in Paris framed in our house. I will never forget that trip. Happy Anniversary!

Where are you staying?

Hi
Is this your first visit to Paris? Regards Gard http://gardkarlsen.com - trip reports and pictures |
If you're going to be in Paris on July 13, there are firemen's balls (bals des pompiers)(almost like block parties) in some quartiers. You could go dancing under the stars and feel very French. Check out www.pompiersparis.fr closer to the date.

I'm staying at the Residence de Arts in St Germain.
Will be in Paris July 14-18 and yes this is our first trip to Paris..we are experianced travelers, but just somehow never got to Paris of all places, and thought this was a good enough reason to skim all the other plans..so we booked this July trip to Paris and Basque Country. |
Hi SS,
Only 4 days in Paris? Are you arriving on July 14? That's a major holiday. Are you thinking of a major night out at a restaurant, a hot-air balloon ride, bungy jumping...? ((I)) |
yes I know I am arriving in Paris on Bastille Day...but the anniversary is July 15th...I'm not looking for anything that will take up too much time...unfortunately we couldn't plan more than the 4 days in Paris, and since its our first trip I want to cover a lot..so no bungy jumping...hot air baloon ride would be cool, but am afraid it would have to be a whole day trip as we would have to leave the city.

A hot air balloon trip might not be feasible, but it is possible to go up in a tethered balloon just outside the city walls for a great view (and somewhat different experience than the Eiffel Tower). Not sure exactly where and how, but I'll look it up.
The traffic situation will be a nightmare in some places from early in the morning of the 14th at least until early afternoon because of the Bastille Day parade. (The street outside our apartment was full of tanks and other military vehicles on their way to the parade at 6 am last summer.) Although ordinarily I'm not a fan of the RER for getting from the airport to one's hotel/home on arrival, for you it might be a good idea. A taxi would also have some flexibility to avoid the bad traffic tie-ups, but there might be fewer taxis available at the airport on July 14. |
