Annecy

Can anyone suggest a nice air conditioned hotel for family with teens to stay?

Hotel Carlton (a Best Western franchisee) Close to old town, affordable, nice view on upper floors.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Have you enjoyed visiting Annecy?

We stayed at the Hotel du Chateau in Anncey in July 2003 (with teens). I loved it but don't recall if there was AC. Didn't need it as it was freezing (in July!). I know it can get much hotter than it was when we were there, but Anncey is near the mountains, I don't think you would really need AC that much.

Hi jenjane50. Sorry, I don't even have anything to contribute about hotels (I stayed with friends). But Annecy has my heart. Haven't been there in many years so I hope it still has the charm I remember. It can get hot but as Isabel says I don't think AC is a requirement. They have the lake to cool off and mountain breezes.

One of my funniest memories is a photo I have of people on the beach at the lake. I know I took the photo but my Mom and Dad (I was in my 20's, single) were never convinced - there is a girl who looks just like me laying in the sun topless! Didn't even notice at the time I took the pic. Give Annecy my regards and I hope to return some day....

Annecy is a lovely place to visit. The central part of the old town has a waterway, with a picturesque bridge arching over it, and interesting small shops.

Lake Annecy is quite beautiful, and a drive around it to the old Abbey of Hautcombe is more than worth a trip. It's still a working monastery with a good gift shop for things like local honey and pottery. It's also possible to hear a mass sung in Gregorian chant.
