Andalusia-when to go?

Hello Fodorites, After some family illnesses, here we are planning another "last minute" trip. Is it too late to go to this area this November/December, or should we aim for another time later on? We considered going here last May and you suggested we go in November perhaps. You helped us plan a wonderful trip to southern Italy and Sicily (trip report https://www.fodors.com/community/eur...024-a-1722233/).

I can't comment on Andalusia in November as we were there just this past April. Weatherwise it was already warm then. A quick google search says the average November temperatures during the day range between 16 and 22 degrees Celsius. Assuming you want to visit the Alhambra, I'd check their website to see if tickets were still available. Also gardens may not be as lush as in the spring. Just my few thoughts.

We thought November weather in Andalusia was lovely

I went in October and found it lovely.

You might want to check weatherspark.com for some exceptionally informative climate data.

If interested, you might also want to check the Alhambra website to see when the Generalife is open for evening visits -- I believe it's evening visits end at some point in the fall.. (I consider an evening visit to the Generalife lower priority than an evening visit to the Nasrid Palace, and a day visit is highly recommended., so an evening visit to the Generalife would be a 3rd visit -- though I would do it first: Evening visit to the garden on one night, day visit and evening visit to the Palace the next day.)

I was in Andalucia last year Nov 20-29 and found the weather wonderful. I’d happily go there again at that time. I bought w/me an unlined knee length rain coat (indeed it rained only twice for an hour or so) and a light down vest to layer underneath. I found the weather/temperature delightful for sightseeing.

Agree..November would be great, I imagine.

We visited (a return visit) in first half December 2019 and thought it was a great time to be there. Mostly clear sunny days, although maybe we just got lucky.

The only issues that come to mind is the holiday to start the month of November and the chance of rain.

We were there the last 2 weeks of December and weather was fantastic. Some were even swimming in Malaga!

VF, I would definitely just go. There will likely be rain, but of course not every day and not all day. Our experience around that same time frame was a positive one.
Good luck!
I am done. the brolly

Thanks to all for this useful help! If we can work out going, I will surely write a trip report.

Late to this thread but simply agreeing with others that October and November are lovely times for Andalucía, even December, as lrice enjoyed Sevilla so much during her pre and during Christmas December TR.
