Andalusia itinerary: a few questions

Welcome to Spain, Suzy Q

Step by step:

A best place for me to relax in Costa del Sol is Kempinsky Hotel Bahia. By the way, Estepona has better beaches than Marbella.

Andalusia itinerary: a few questions

Hi again Suzy, Glad to tell you now more ‘insider tips’ from a local.About your first post :
Question 1 : Should you feel OK during the drive, have a lunch break at Renaissance ‘twin towns’ Ubeda or Baeza, which are 1,30 hour from Granada. In Baeza I recommend the restaurante Palacio de Gallego.Question 2 : Yes, Sevilla ! To make the best of your time, you should hire a good local Guide. Try also Carmona, 5000 years old town, very close from Sevilla. Its Tartessos museum is amazing.Questiion 3 : Already suggested Kempinsky Hotel Bahia in EsteponaDear Suzy, you can write me in case you wish to have more ‘insider tips’

Hi all, thank you again for your helpful advice. After a lot of discussion we have decided to stay put in Granada for all 4 days. The first or second day we'll spend seeing the town and seeing the Alhambra. The other two days we'll use for day trips and driving around the region. One day trip will likely be Cordoba. kja 2.5 hours each way is not a huge distance for us. We've done longer day trips on on vacations, one being around Iceland when I was 6 months pregnant! The limiting factor will most likely be heat and how we will be feeling. I've been to Spain in the winter and once around this same time (but I was much younger!) Let's see how we've held up with age

millie2112 If we decide to skip Cordoba because of the heat, we'll definitely consider driving somewhere else, so thank you for those options! Ronda was on our initial list, it looks beautiful! We actually have nine nights on the ground – 4 in Granada and 5 in Sevilla. For Sevilla, we arrive on the 27th and leave on the 1st. The wedding starts in the evening of the 29th. So we have all day on the 28th to explore Sevilla. Plus half of the 29th. Even on the 30th and 31st, the events are in the morning or the evening (only half days). So while we won't be "sightseeing" those three days, we'll have plenty of time to take in the city, eat and drink with friends, etc.

jannie_1947 The Bahia was the hotel we had chosen to book! It looks absolutely wonderful, but sadly will have to skip it. It was a TOUGH decision. But thank you so much for the other tips. As we figure out the daily plans, I will definitely be in touch about other recommendations you might have.

I am glad your plans are shaping up. I just want to point out that Cordoba is 50 minutes from Sevilla. It would make more sense to do your day trip from Sevilla to Cordoba than from Granada... I loved Cordoba in October, and enjoyed spending a night there. In August, I had a hard time recognizing the city because of the heat! But my parents wanted to see it, and August was the only time they could go.

sounds like a really good plan.
We did a day trip to Cordoba from Seville by train. the train was great on the way up, but on the way back there was a problem on the tracks and we were stuck near Seville for over an hour
From Seville you can do day trips to the coast. You can do this by train quite easily.
I was in Granada for 2 nights only. I could have easily done another 2 nights, especially if i was taking a day trip.

ToujoursVoyager Agree it would be a shorter distance from Sevilla to Cordoba, but now that we are staying in Granada longer, we'll just do it from there. We don't have that much time in Sevilla with the wedding happening for half of our stay there and want to make sure we get enough time to enjoy Sevilla itself. I'm not looking forward to the heat and wish our friends had picked a different time to get married! Oh well, can't complain too much about an opportunity to go to Spain, right?

millie2112 I love taking trains in Europe, but we're going to have our car for this one. Because we're limited by time, we want the flexibility to leave and go from place to place without being limited by a schedule. Wish we had 2 more days and could do more day trips and see the coast, but we're already maxed out on how long we can be away from the kids.
