Andalucia - were to go
I´m staying for 3 months in Seville. Absolutely marvelous...
My husband I are retired and we do this 3 months atay in many cities in Europe. During another trip we went to Cordoba and Granada so we have seen all the wondfull things there. I need some help choosing 3 or 4 cities around Seville that we can go by train or bus ( we do not drive). Interesting, nice cities... Can you help me?? Thanks Katia |
Jerez-de-la-Frontera close by train for sherry tours and practice sessions of behemoth Andalusian horses most days in local arena. Cadiz nice seaside city -old town center. Ronda by bus going thru the iconic white villages - for lots on trains and transports there check www.seat61.com; BETS-European Rail Experts and www.ricksteves.com.

I highly recommend Malaga. It's an easy train ride from Seville. (2 to 2.5 hours) You will get some coastal ambiance along with some interesting sightseeing. The old city center is beautiful and pedestrianized. For sightseeing, we visited the cathedral, Alcazaba, Castillo, Picasso Museum, and wandered along the promenade by the port and enjoyed drinks while watching the sunset over the port and Mediterranean. The walk to the top of the Alcazaba was one of the highlights of our visit. As you walk uphill, there are spectacular views of the port and the Mediterranean, and you walk through lush greenery, flowers, patios, small fountains, and ruins. If you wish, you can also go for a ferris wheel ride down by the seaside promenade.

One more vote for gorgeous Malaga - it took us four trips to Spain to make it there finally but we fell in love with her. So easy to explore on foot! Beautiful pedestrian areas, stunning views on the way to the Alcazaba and Castello de Gibralfaro, amazing Cathedral... Karen described Malaga very well. Adding Antequera, a hidden gem of white towns and not overcrowded yet. As far as I know, it is easy to get to Antequera by train (we had a car). And adding charming Arcos de la Frontera to Jerez (there is a bus). You will never forget the view of the valley from the Arcos Cathedral plaza. |
Cadiz, Sanlucar, Vejer, Carmona, Arcos--all reachable by bus or train.
Are these as day trips, or overnights, from Sevilla? What are your main interests? Beach? Food/drink? Architecture? |

We went to Malaga for the last weekend and we did love it. Going to Ronda this weekebd and Cadiz next month!!! Loving Andalucia... Seville is absolutely gorgeous... Katia |
