Texasbookworm, great report about Rome! Thanks for including so many details. We'll be visiting Italy in the fall, including a few days in Rome. Although we've spent time in Rome on three previous trips, there is so much to see, and we received some helpful tips from your report.

Although smaller than London, Rome has so many layers, I feel about it like I do about London; to paraphrase Johnson--When a man is tired of [Rome]. he's tired of life.

Have fun! I didn't include many specifics in details, so if you have question about something, ask away.

Wonderful report of my favorite city. Sorry your husband got sick; I hate getting sick on vacation. Sounds as if you both made the best of it, though.

Texasbookworm--another great trip report. Sorry your husband was under the weather. Reminds me of when my son got food poisoning and we had to cancel our day trip to Oxford. He ended up spending a couple of days in the hotel room. It gave us the incentive to make another trip and do Oxford then. Now you have reasons to return too!

europeannovice--I think I remember your sick son saga!

Yes, there's plenty left in Rome to entice me back--and we haven't seen any of Italy outside of Rome, so...

Thanks for encouraging words (and DH all recuperated)
