And the winner is.......

It is me and I cannot believe it, but all the pieces are in place now so I know it is true.

The classical music station, KMozart in L.A. had a contest for a trip to The Music Festival in Salzburg in August. I won the grand prize!

The prize is airline tickets for two on Lufthansa, 8 night stay at Hotel Alstadt with buffet breakfast, tickets to three concerts and $1000.00 to use on the Home shopping network. My husband got a digital camcorder at HSN.

My husband and I love classical music and at one of the concerts we will hear Mozart's 38th symphony. This is my favorite Mozart symphony.

I have never won a prize before, so this is very exciting for me and my husband.

Congratulations. If you've not been to Salzburg before you should enjoy the time of your life. The Festival must be spectacular. Enjoy.

Uncle Sam May 22nd, 2002 10:39 AM

Congratulations!

Only thing I ever won was the draft lottery in 1970...#275. I guess you win that and all the other prizes aren't quite as meaningful!

Although Salzburg is a big winner!

Enjoy your trip and safe travels!

US

kate May 22nd, 2002 11:14 AM

Years ago I won, also in a radio contest, a one week trip for my wife and I to see Bruce Springsteen in Paris . In my opinion only one thing beats a trip to Europe. That's a free trip to Europe. Have fun.

Santa Chiara May 22nd, 2002 01:00 PM

Capo, I believe I am probably the one of the few to recognize the "prize" you won in 1970. Bravo.

who? May 22nd, 2002 02:30 PM

Capo is Uncle Sam?

bobbie May 22nd, 2002 02:40 PM

WOW! That is fantastic! Have a wonderful time and let us know how it all turned out.

Betsy May 22nd, 2002 04:11 PM

Congratulations! How much fun will you have! Salzburg during the festival is music everywhere! Small recitals all the way to headlining opera and enough Mozart to last until your next trip.
Enjoy!

Marilyn May 22nd, 2002 04:21 PM

I have spending a lot of my time "spaced out". It has been a very exciting time for me just thinking about the trip! Your congratulations mean so much to me! Thanks to all of you.

Marilyn

Uncle Sam May 22nd, 2002 04:53 PM

No Capo is not Uncle Sam. The poster recognized the "prize" but obviously typed in the wrong winner.

US

tracy May 22nd, 2002 06:27 PM

I am "spaced out" too, Marilyn. Thats why I'm reading all the posts instead of the ones that really interest me. Congrats anyway, have a great trip.

Brad May 25th, 2002 08:39 AM

How did you win? Were you the 27th caller on the the third Wednesday at 10:15 A. M. or did you have to answer an intelligent question?

Janine May 31st, 2002 09:02 AM

Will the concerts that you are going to be just Mozart?

Bob May 31st, 2002 09:15 AM

Congratulations! Be sure to take a short drive to Berchtesgaden, Germany while in Salzburg. Great town to visit and very close.

I got a kick out of "Uncle Sam's" draft lottery winning in 1970. I got drafted in 1969 three weeks before the first lottery. My number came in 300+ but it was too late as I was already in the Army. I won the lottery anyway by being sent to Germany instead of Viet Nam and being given a great Army office job. My wife and I spent the next year and half touring Europe in a VW bug and getting a million dollar experience. We still go back frequently and I thank the US Army for that time in Europe. All my friends were back home dodging the draft and I lucked out with the trip of a lifetime at an early age of 22 and right out of college. That was a win!
