Anacapri or Capri??
I am trying to decide between two hotels on the Island of Capri for late April. My choices are JK Place above the Marina Grande or the Capri Palace in Anacapri. My concern is that the place in Marina Grande will be too touristy and that the place in Anacapri will be too isolated.
Any comments on either the hotels or the areas? |
Hi 90004,
My answers to your concerns are YES and NO. YES - Marina Grande is MUCH too touristy. NO - Anacapri is definitely not too isolated, it is the place to be. |
Ditto!

Thanks for both of your opinions.
Anyone with any experience with Capri Palace or JK Place? |
I prefer Anacapri. While during the day isn't anything special, at night becomes special with the locals and a few tourists haging out on the historic center main square and little restaurants.
|
What did you decide between JK Place and Capri Palace? We are choosing between those two now. Thanks!

We use to stay at the hotel now known as the Capri Palace when it was the Hotel Europa. We loved the hotel and the location and Anacapri. And one can take the bus to Capri whenever you want to explore Capri or have drinks in the piazza at the end of the day which is so much fun. I would personally opt for the Capri Palace.

I think Capri

I prefer Anacapri. The view is beautiful!

Thank you to all who have responded! My friend suggested the Quisisana (saying there's no better place in Capri then that) while someone else said to stay in Anacapri at the Caesar Augustus. I am concerned that I won't get the "Capri" experience if I stay in Anacapri (in terms of walking around the shops, taking hikes, going to dinner, etc.). The JK looks amazing but people here say that it's too touristy being right by the marina. So as you can see I am completely confused. I know everyone has their own opinion...I just don't want to make a mistake since I am only going for four nights and both hotels are costly! Can anyone comment on how one gets from Anacapri to Capri or what it's like staying there? Thank so so much!

I took a boat from Naples to Capri and a funicolare from Capri to Anacapri.

We stayed a week at the JW Marriot in Capri known there as the Tiberio Palace !! We were disappointed in Anacapri - I vote for Capri ! All the tourist leave at 5 anyway !! Enjoy -I'm jealous !!

I personally prefer Anacapri and the Capri Palace is in a great and central location. Caesar Augustus is also amazing - hands down THE BEST views on the island. The balcony and pool hang out over the cliff and you can see almost the whole island beneath you. I guess it depends really what you are looking for.
Capri: Lots of crowds, more expensive, hordes of tourists Anacapri: Fewer crowds, less expensive (by a little), fewer tourists It's up to you. I agree with the poster who said that Anacapri doesn't have the same feel as Capri. Absolutely! I just happen to like Anacapri's feel better. If you want more specific info about places to go/things to do just let me know. I lived on Capri for awhile. |
Capri as an island is overpriced, touristoverflown and overrated. That said, I'd go for Ana- The Island is small, frequent buses between C and A.

Hi LA90004; We stayed in Ana Capri; I'm sure your selections will be lovely. Our selection was Villa Le Scale. When we arrived in Ana Capri with our luggage a person was waiting and took us up a short walk to the Villa. Had a great room. Anyways, ENJOY. Irs

Thanks once again for all of your input. It's greatly appreciated! My husband wants more "action" so we're opting for Capri. He thinks we can avoid the tourists by staying in the hotel during the day and then enjoy the remainder of the island at night/early evening. I am sure we won't be disappointed with either choice as I have heard the most amazing things about both! I would love suggestions though as to where to eat in Capri. We are definitely foodies and are okay with spending money on incredible food. If you can suggest any restaurants, it would be wonderful. Take care all!

Not expensive, but find a place called Sfizi di Pane. Incredible bread-based products.

Hi, LosAngeles90004-
I had wonderful meal at Ristorante Buca Di Bacco (Via Longano, 35) just a few steps from Capri Town’s Piazzetta. Enjoy! |
