youngster, it may sound presumptuous for a non-American to make a recommendation, but to me the most interesting and tasty home-grown American cuisine is that Louisiana. You'll wow them if you can knock up a good jambalaya. But pass on "Cajun spice mix", which is not at all authentic.

youngster,
most people on this board have told you that a eurail pass is not what you want. and they are probably correct(the bahn card sounds pretty good)
but you may want to consider one if you are going to spend any part of your trip exclusively traveling (1 month free time etc)
they offer a EuroPass Flexi Youth pass that gives you 10 or 15 days of travel in a 2 month period within 17 countries. (around 600 bucks)
The reason I posted this is becuae I had friends in rome on a study abroad program that bought them, primariy to use AFTER their last class was over. they got very good value out of it. just something to think about
many times point to point travel cn be cheaper, but if you move alot and are under 26 you can save some money with a pass

You're in luck - low cost carrier easyJet just recently established a hub at Berlin Schonefeld. If you plan in advance, you'll be able to fly to farther away places in Europe for cheap.

Definitely go to Prague. It's amazing, and since you're a student I would think you'll be on a budget. It's what we like to call CHEAP! I just got back from spending a year there. They call it a black whole. I know a ton of people who came for a week and have now been there for 3 years +. Also, if you know German, you can get around there. No problem. Since I"ve done a lot of traveling in the past year, I would also rocommend anywhere in Spain, especially Barcelona, the south of Portugal, specifically Lagos (and if you do end up there, stay at a place called the Rising Cock...it's a great place for young people, especially backpackers) and also I'd recommend Greece, but stay away from Mykonos. It's nothing special. Oh, and go anywhere and everywhere you can in Italy. Hope this helps! Good luck

Oh...and please, DO NOT GET A EURAIL PASS. Since you'll be there for such a long amount of time, you should really give yourself time to get to know it. The better you get to know Berlin, the better you'll get to know how transpertation works there. It's such a waste of money, and you're so restricted. Once you arrive, you'll meet people and you'll have classes, and you'll want to chill in Berlin on most weekends because it really will become home, so you'll need more flexibility than a eurail can provide. Trust me it's a mistake...
